I worked at a horse barn once. The owner's favorite horse died of old age (28 i believ) and a week later the wolves had dug it up and her horses half rotten-half chewed head was on her path to the barn. Needless to say, the barn bitch had to re-bury it. (barn bitch=me)

For a human, the procedure is called an autopsy, for an animal, it's called a necropsy ... just thought I'd let you know

In the horse world, a necropsy is sometimes done where there are big insurance payoffs involved.

I guess it would be the same with any animal that's heavily insured.

Perhaps this was a race horse that mysteriously died and the owner wants to know why ... or maybe it was one of those race horses that died a few months back .... anyone remember that where a bunch of them died on their way to a race, something about a bad strain of whatever it was they were given?
