Re: The Forensic Examination and Autopsy

What are those round stickers with metal piece in the center, as seen in the last picture?

I've seen them on dead bodies before, on a hanged girl for instance (she was dead when found, so those couldn't be electrodes) and always wondered what are those.
They are electrodes from Meditrace.

Re: The Forensic Examination and Autopsy

Great post!! Most interesting one in a while.
Also when doing serial sectioning of the organs, why not just do a CT scan?

Re: The Forensic Examination and Autopsy

We use bolt cutters to remove the best plate instead of a saw. I've never seen a saw used. I hate removing the skull cap, I feel like I'm breathing in bone dust......yuck.

Re: The Forensic Examination and Autopsy

I wish I could watch an autopsy. Just curious. Great post!!
It's what I do for one of my jobs, assist the MD and do most if the grunt work like removing the breast plate, skull cap, some organs and the brain for MD to go through, and take pictures and weigh the organs. Drawing vitreous fluid is by far the grossest part lol. I have learned a tremendous amount from this job.

That one was from a 12 lead done, sometimes the same electrodes will be on a dead person like you mentioned, maybe 3-5 of them. They place then on the body and run a strip for the coroner/ME to verify that the heart is in asystole. Yes, obvious I know on some, but it's something else to put in the report.
