Dimebag - Darrell Abbotts Autopsy Report
Dimebag Darrell Abbott was an American musician and songwriter and founding member of the heavy metal bands Pantera and Damageplan. In 1981, Abbott founded Pantera along with his brother, Vinnie. Pantera went on to produce such albums as Metal Magic, Projects in the Jungle, I Am the Night, Power Metal, Cowboys from Hell, Vulgar Display of Power, and Far Beyond Driven. After some tensions in the group and eventual disbandment of Pantera, the Abbott brothers, in 1983, started the a new heavy metal band, Damageplan. On December 8, 2004, as Damageplan was starting their show at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, 25-year-old Nathan Gale walked on stage with a gun, shooting and killing Darrell, with five shots to the head. Gale also killed Damageplan's head of security, Jeff Thompson; club employee, Erin Halk; and concertgoer, Nathan Bray. Injured in the shootings were Damageplan drum technician John Brooks and Damageplan tour manager, Chris Paluska. Nathan Bray was a hero as he tried to assist providing CPR to Abbott and Thompson before the gunman fatally shot Bray. Gale was holding Brooks hostage in a headlock with a gun pointed at his head as police arrived. Columbus police officer James Niggemeyer entered the nightclub fro the rear of the stage and killed Gale with a shotgun blast to the head to end the siege. Niggemeyer was a hero as well that evening ending the chaos. Abbott is buried in Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, Texas.

I didn't realize Dime was 6'2". Always thought he was somewhere around 5'7".

Dime was my hero, since I was a kid. I named my son Darrell after him. Even his middle and last name, are my son's 2 middle names. I never cry over famous people dying.. Dimebag and Robin Williams were the only ones. Rest in Peace Dime |

Dime had and still has a place in my heart. Seen him play numerous times. He is the only one I actually cried over. Vinnie's death did not hurt me as much but still bothered me tremendously. RIP Brothers Abbott! Gone but NEVER forgotten.....   |
