Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV
Ukrainian F-16s Shine in First Combat, Halting Russian Attack. Russia has launched massive airstrikes on Ukraine, deploying a wide array of weaponry. Among the most dangerous were cruise missiles, targeted by Ukraine's newly acquired F-16 fighter jets. These aircraft, recently delivered to Ukraine, played a crucial role in countering the Russian threat, according to Tech. Russia’s attacks on Kyiv and other regions involved hundreds of projectiles, including Iskander-M ballistic missiles, Kh-101 cruise missiles launched from Tu-95MS bombers, and Kalibr missiles fired from sea-based vessels. Additionally, a significant number of Shahed drones were used to complicate Ukraine’s air defense systems. Interestingly, one of these drones even strayed into Polish airspace. The most significant threat came from the cruise missiles, which boast advanced guidance systems and destructive warheads. For example, the standard Kh-101 missile carries a 400-kilogram warhead, but Russia has recently introduced an enhanced version with a cluster warhead. These missiles fly at low altitudes, often using terrain features like valleys and rivers to evade radar detection, making them difficult to track and intercept by ground-based air defense systems. Ukraine’s current fleet of MiG-29 and Su-27 jets, while still operational, are less effective at combating cruise missiles compared to the more advanced F-16s. The F-16’s superior radar capabilities allow it to detect low-flying, stealthy targets more efficiently. Additionally, the F-16s are equipped with targeting pods that enhance their ability to lock onto difficult targets. Once detected, these missiles or drones can be destroyed using AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles or the aircraft's onboard 20mm M61A Vulcan cannon. With the arrival of the F-16s, Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against Russia’s missile barrage has been significantly strengthened. |

Another russian oil depot in the Rostov region is ablaze after being targeted by Ukrainian drones. The incident at the Atlas oil plant in Kamensky has sparked concerns about the potential disruption of russia's strategic oil production capabilities, which could have implications for military operations. Also Ukraine Resistance group ATESH says it carried out a series of sabotage attacks on russia's new railway line in occupied Ukraine. This line connects Rostov-on-Don with Mariupol via Berdyansk. It would be the major supply line. |

russia has moved 90% of its aircraft to military bases outside ATACMS range. A new US intelligence assessment has revealed that since Ukraine began receiving ATACMS missiles, russia has adapted by relocating 90% of its aircraft to military bases outside the missile's range. Source: an unnamed US official speaking to The Wall Street Journal The article stated that the Biden administration has no plans to change its position despite Ukraine's intensified calls for the US to lift the ban on using ATACMS against targets in russia and amid the largest attack this week since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The official mentioned that launching ATACMS on russian territory would have minimal impact at this point, adding that Ukraine is likely to achieve more success with the locally produced drones it has used to strike targets in russia in recent months. The official said although the USA has ramped up ATACMS production, supplies remain limited, and the Pentagon has only a restricted amount available to provide to Ukraine. ================================ Ukraine carried out a successful test of the first domestic-made ballistic missile, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Aug. 27. "It may be too early to talk about it but I want to share it with you," the president said at the Ukraine 2024 Independence forum in Kyiv. Zelensky congratulated to the Ukrainian Defense Industry on the project but did not provide any further details on the weaponry. It’s most likely the Hrim-2 project The missile has a range of over 700 km, making it possible for Ukraine to strike Moscow. ================================ Sat image shows at least two oil tanks were hit. |

An explosion and a fire broke out at the Ryazan State District Power Plant in Novomichurinsk. The station is completely covered in smoke. Meanwhile, some russian publics are writing about a Ukrainian attack on the power facility, while pro-Kremlin media outlets are reporting spontaneous combustion of dry grass near the power plant.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV
A Ukrainian F-16 jet fighter was destroyed in a crash on Monday, just weeks after the first of the American-made aircraft arrived in Ukraine. Initial reports indicate the jet wasn’t shot down by enemy fire, although the incident occurred during a massive russian missile barrage across the country on Monday, the official said. Rather, the crash was likely a result of pilot error. ================================ Atlas oil plant still burning. |
