Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

The Kupol plant in Izhevsk, which produces Tor and Osa air defense systems, as well as UAVs for the russian army, was hit by SBU drones.

The enterprise fulfills orders from the russian Ministry of Defense: it specializes in the production of Tor and Osa air defense systems, and also develops Harpy strike drones.

The plant is under international sanctions as an object of the russian military-industrial complex.

At least two drone hits on the plant’s production buildings were recorded, after which a fire broke out.

Local media reports that three workers died, at least 24 were injured.

SBU reminds that the only prospect for the enemy on the territory of Ukraine is death.

Colonel Ivan Voronych, who was shot dead in Kyiv on July 10, served in Ukraine’s domestic intelligence agency and had been with the agency for decades.

Voronych had for a time commanded the special operations unit known as the Fifth Directorate, which receives technical support from the CIA and oversees, among other things, assassination missions, such as the 2016 killing of Arsen Pavlov, better known by his nom de guerre “Motorola,” a prominent commander of pro-Russian formations in eastern Ukraine.

Ivan Stupak, another former Ukrainian intelligence operative, corroborated these details in remarks to Ukrainian media outlet NV. “We remember Givi, Motorola, various other low-ranking ‘russian Spring activists’; many were burned, shot, killed. These are the kinds of things this unit dealt with, the unit where the deceased [Voronych] worked,” Stupak said.

Ivan Voronych was killed on the morning of July 10 in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district. The gunman shot him several times with a pistol before fleeing the scene.

The Moscow region was attacked at night. In Zelenograd, a downed drone crashed into a high-rise residential building, and several cars caught fire at the scene.

The russian Ministry of defense claimed that a total of 19 drones were shot down over the Moscow region.

Flights at Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, and Zhukovsky airports were suspended twice during the night.

Nizhny Novgorod, Kaluga, and Yaroslavl airports also temporarily ceased operations.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

Russia’s national airline Aeroflot was forced to cancel dozens of flights on Monday after a massive cyber attack caused the company’s computer systems to fail.

A hacking group called Silent Crow claimed responsibility for the action, alongside an outfit known as Cyber Partisans.

“We declare the successful completion of a prolonged and large-scale operation, as a result of which the internal IT infrastructure of Aeroflot was completely compromised and destroyed,” Silent Crow wrote on Telegram. “Glory to Ukraine” Long live Belarus!”

The hackers claim that a year-long infiltration of Aeroflot’s systems allowed them to steal 20 terabytes of data and destroy 7,000 servers.

The scale of the attack has led to questions about who the hackers actually are, and how much threat might they pose to Russia.

The Telegram channel that serves as the group’s mouthpiece was formed on Christmas Day 2024, with the first attack claimed just weeks later.

In January 2025, Silent Crow said that it was behind a breach of Russia’s real estate registry Rosreestr that compromised around 2 billion records.

That same month, the hackers claimed responsibility for an attack on Russian telecom firm Rostelecom, which leaked customer information through one of its contractors. The company claimed that no sensitive data was stolen.

Other claimed targets include Moscow’s Department of Information Technologies, Kia Russia and Alfa Bank – Russia’s largest private bank.

Silent Crow positions itself as a pro-Ukraine group of hacktivists – activist hackers – that target Russia and its allies.

“You are incapable of protecting even your most critical infrastructure,” the group wrote following the Aeroflot attack. “To all members of the repressive apparatus – your digital security is meaningless. You’ve long been under observation.”

The group’s targets, as well as the fact that it has never demanded a ransom from its victims, have inevitably led to speculation that it is backed by Ukraine, though Kyiv has not commented on this.

This appears to be the first time that the group has worked alongside Cyber Partisans, which share similar motivations.

Cyber Partisans are a long-established hacker group from Belarus, who have been operating since at least 2022 – the year that Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The group describes itself as a “highly organised hacktivist collective that is fighting for the liberation of Belarus from dictatorial rule”.

The Kremlin described the latest cyber attack against Aeroflot as “worrying”, while Russia’s prosecutors office has launched a criminal investigation.

Senior Russian lawmaker Anton Gorelkin described the incident as a “wake-up call”, and called for reinforcement to the country’s cyber defences.

“We must not forget that the war against our country is being waged on all fronts, including the digital one,” he said in a statement.

“I do not rule out that the ‘hacktivists’ who claimed responsibility for the incident are in the service of unfriendly states.”

Look who's talking. Hypocritical.

Donald J. Trump:

Based on the highly provocative statements of the Former President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, who is now the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that.

Words are very important, and can often lead to unintended consequences, I hope this will not be one of those instances. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

==========================================

The death toll from a russian attack on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on Thursday has risen to 26, including three children, the Ukrainian Ministry of the Interior reported.

Previously, the death toll was 16, including two children. 159 people were injured.

The ministry revised the death toll Friday after "rescuers recovered 10 bodies from the rubble of a house, including the body of a 2-year-old child," the report said.

One person was killed Friday morning in a russian attack in the southeastern Zaporizhia region, regional military authorities reported.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

U.S. President Donald Trump's India tariffs have shown Moscow's allies that he will follow through with his threat to impose secondary tariffs on countries that purchase Russian oil, though doubts remain about the practicalities of implementing them, analysts have told the Kyiv Independent.

Escalating pressure on countries that continue buying Russian oil, Trump imposed 25% tariffs on Indian imports, a policy that came into effect on Aug.1.

"They have always bought a vast majority of their military equipment from Russia, and are Russia's largest buyer of energy, along with China," Trump said on July 30.

Just a day after Trump's announcement, Reuters reported that Indian state refiners had halted Russian oil purchases in the past week. According to Bloomberg, the Indian government instructed oil companies to prepare plans for alternative supplies.

Alexandra Filippenko, an American studies expert, said that while India has maintained ties with Russia, U.S. influence remains far more decisive.

"The American market is, of course, very important for India — far more important than Russia, and far more important than cheap Russian oil," she told the Kyiv Independent.

The decision to impose tariffs on New Delhi came just a day after Trump announced that secondary tariffs targeting Moscow — and impacting its trading partners like China, India, and Brazil — would take effect on Aug. 8 unless a deal to end the war in Ukraine is reached.

If countries like India continue purchasing Russian oil, they could face up to a 100% tariff on exports to the U.S., potentially driving up prices for American buyers and putting pressure on Indian exporters.

India hasn't been dependent on Russian oil for all that long.

New Delhi's reliance on Russian crude grew after Moscow's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. At the beginning of that year, Russian oil accounted for just 0.2% of India's imports.

But as Western nations shunned Russian energy, India capitalized on steep discounts. By mid-2023, Russia was supplying over 2 million barrels of oil per day to India.

In 2025, India overtook China as Russia's top crude buyer by volume, according to the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air.

Despite those volumes, Filippenko said India is ultimately more exposed to American pressure than dependent on Russian oil.

"That's why there's real potential for U.S. leverage," she said.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

Russia attacked a key bridge in Ukraine's Kherson Oblast on Aug. 2, prompting local officials to urge residents to evacuate.

The strike occurred around 6 p.m. local time, when Russian forces dropped two guided bombs on the city of Kherson, according to regional authorities.

The attack damaged a bridge connecting the city to the Korabel neighborhood. Three houses and a high-rise residential building were also damaged, officials said. No casualties were immediately reported.

Kherson Oblast Governor Oleksandr Prokudin wrote on Telegram at 11:45 a.m. on Aug. 3 that Russian forces were once again striking the same bridge.

Prokudin urged residents of the Korabel district to evacuate, citing complications to logistics and infrastructure.

"As a result of the airstrike, logistics have been complicated. Because of this, it will be difficult to deliver food and other things for the time being," Prokudin wrote on Telegram.

Kherson Oblast, located in southern Ukraine just north of Russian-occupied Crimea, has been repeatedly targeted by Russian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion.
