Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

Mad how so many Colonels and Generals have been squished over the past two years. Have we seen any Ukranian high rankers been killed. Good to see that the generals and similar show the cannon fodder they are there too. maybe these ones being killed are people Shit Tin doesnt approve of so they are sent to the front to be killed and its an easy assassination of a problem member of staff.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

Ukrainian forces have liberated Novomlynsk, a strategic settlement on the right bank of the Oskil River in Kharkiv Oblast, forcing russian troops into a chaotic retreat.

This victory was confirmed by DeepState and Ukraine’s Khortytsia operational-strategic group, marking a significant blow to russian efforts to establish a foothold across the river.

The 8th Separate Assault Battalion of the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade "Edelweiss" spearheaded the offensive, employing a coordinated operation involving convoys, artillery, and drones.

The first assault disrupted russian positions, while a second wave broke their defenses entirely. In desperation, russian forces attempted a counterattack but were repelled by Ukrainian rapid-response groups.

Caught between advancing Ukrainian troops and relentless artillery, russian soldiers fled across the river—some in boats, others swimming—while Ukrainian forces targeted their crossings, inflicting heavy casualties.

This operation solidifies Ukrainian control over the Oskil’s right bank, a critical logistical and defensive area. The russians are probably trying to keep the Ukrainian forces busy.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

Ukraine lost an area equivalent to the size of New York City to russian forces in November – the worst monthly figure for Ukrainian defenders since September 2022.

After the full-scale invasion in February 2022, russia gained ground quickly before being pushed back in a Ukrainian counteroffensive.

Last year, with the conflict mostly at a stalemate, Institute for the Study of War (ISW) data shows that russian forces took 2,233 sq km (862 sq miles) of territory. Already in 2024 they have taken about 2,656 sq km.

The area seized by the russians in November amounts 1,202 sq km, roughly the same size as New York City.

But experts have argued that a large proportion of the land is rural and not of huge strategic or operational value.

russian forces have mostly encircled but not yet taken major cities, and few major rail or road arteries have been severed recently.

russian control of Ukrainian territory has increased from 17.4% in November 2023 to 17.9% as of 30 November 2024.

russia has made the most territorial gains in Donetsk, where it has gained 1,804 sq km since the start of the year. In November alone, it gained 1,006 sq km.

The November advance in Donetsk marks the russians’ biggest gains in the region since May 2022. These gains represent the majority of russia’s recent battlefield successes.

In October, russia captured the town of Vuhledar, a key stronghold in southern Donetsk that has withstood repeated russian attacks since the beginning of the war.

Since April, russia has been driving towards the city of Pokrovsk, a regional capital and a key military objective. Several towns have been captured in this advance, including Novohrodivka, a town with a prewar population of 15,000.

Mapping the land that russia has taken over the last year reveals how it has mainly been seizing agricultural land but has failed to make significant gains across territory with major urban or infrastructure value.

Further north, russian forces have taken control of Pivnichne and Zalizne, among other towns, in their advance towards the city of Toretsk.

There have also been losses in Luhansk and Kharkiv. russian troops have taken 350 sq km of territory in Luhansk this year. At the end of November, they controlled 98.6% of the region.

Similarly in Kharkiv, Ukraine has lost 392 sq km of territory since January this year. In Kupiansk, one of the largest cities in eastern Kharkiv, there has been fighting this month for the first time since it was reclaimed by Ukraine in its 2022 counteroffensive.

Ukraine made some small gains earlier this year, after repelling major offensives in northern Kharkiv and Luhansk, but overall, the trend in territory losses has continued.

The analysis shows that russia has incrementally made gains across the year, especially in Donetsk, and controls a majority of the land in each of the four regions it illegally annexed in 2022 — Luhansk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk.

Of the four, Donetsk remains the region where russian forces control the smallest proportion of land but has been the most significant gains in recent weeks.

Since November last year, 29 villages and towns with pre-war populations over 1,000 people have been claimed by russia, of which 25 were in Donetsk.

Aside from these settlements, the majority of the land claimed by russia in the last year has been rural – whether agricultural land, forests or fields.

George Barros, russia team lead at the ISW, said Ukraine was on track to lose more ground but that attention had to be paid to what kind of land russia was taking.

He said: “Though Vuhledar and Avdiivka were significant objectives, russia has not fundamentally unhinged Ukraine’s defensive positions.

Their territory gains are mostly agricultural land, and their losses – 30-50,000 troops [either dead or injured] a month – are completely unsustainable.

The russians won’t have waves of infantry and vehicles to send like they used to assuming the current rate of attrition holds over the next year. They are performing very poorly.”

Dr Marina Miron, a researcher at King’s College London’s war studies department, said russia’s aim was to stretch Ukraine’s forces as much as possible with offensives across eastern Ukraine. “There is a possibility that the front might collapse, especially in the regions south of Vuhledar.”

Miron assessed that the war, in its current form, would probably end in 2025 – but Ukraine would enter any ceasefire negotiations on the backfoot.

She said: “Ukraine relies heavily on western support, which is decreasing. Donald Trump’s election only adds more uncertainty.

Morale is very low in Ukraine’s army, after ‘meat grinder’ battles like Bakhmut, and they’re not recruiting the troops that they need. russia simply has more potential, more resources and more troops.”

As well as areas fully under russian control, the map above also shows russian advances, indicating areas where russian forces are present but not in control.

The land area estimates used in this analysis are based on analysis of daily control files from the ISW. These files assess the extent of territory controlled or contested byrussian forces on a daily basis.

These may be documented a few days after particular events happen owing to the way ISW assesses and verifies changes in territory control.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

Denmark has transferred a second batch of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, further bolstering the country's air defense capabilities, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Dec. 7.

"Denmark's decisive leadership in defending lives stands out," he said in a post on social media, adding: "With this additional reinforcement, our air shield is stronger than ever."

Zelensky added that the first batch of Danish-provided F-16 jets has already been deployed, and the second one will improve Ukraine's air defense capabilities against ongoing Russian missile strikes.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

Continued UAV sitings on US east coast & perceived lack of US defense action by Deep State continue to frustrate Americans and Elected Officials:

Current Media Blurbs
"An official from Naval Weapons Station Earle in Monmouth County, New Jersey, confirmed on Friday that "unidentified drones" have entered its airspace multiple times, though there were "no direct threats" to the facility. This comes amid numerous drone sightings across New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, leading to heightened concerns, while the White House stated that none of the reports have been verified.

Bill Addison, the station's public affairs officer, emphasized the base's preparedness to handle potential risks. Democratic senators, including Chuck Schumer, have requested answers from the FBI, FAA, and Department of Homeland Security regarding the drone activity affecting local communities.

White House National Security adviser John Kirby noted that many reported sightings may involve lawful manned aircraft. However, Sen.-elect Andy Kim, who saw the drones himself, expressed frustration over the lack of information.

The Pentagon indicated that the drone activity is unlikely to be from a foreign adversary. In response, the FAA has issued a temporary flight restriction on drone flights over Picatinny Arsenal Military Base until December 26."

US Citizens Threaten to Defend US from Drones
"Frustrated by a lack of answers about numerous potential drone sightings above their homes, New Jersey residents are threatening to take matters into their own hands if the government doesn't respond.

James Ward, a Jersey Shore realtor, posted a video on Facebook claiming to show "SUV-sized drones" over Island Beach State Park taken on Sunday. The footage, which features several lights hovering in the sky, makes it hard to gauge their size.

"Dozens of SUV-sized drones in all directions," the caption stated. "Emerging simultaneously, flying over the ocean, and then heading in different directions – what do you think?"

"Why hasn't anyone shot one down to look for a serial number to trace it back to the operator?" one commenter asked. "That could provide a clue."

"Semi-auto 3-inch magnum 00 buck full choke!" another replied.

Experts caution that it is typically illegal to shoot down a drone flying over private property. The Federal Aviation Administration informed Forbes in 2016 that shooting down a drone is against federal law, which prohibits sabotaging any aircraft.

FAA regulations also forbid unsafe or unauthorized operation of any aircraft, manned or unmanned.

Calls for action arose after Governor Phil Murphy, a Democrat, and two Republican congressmen urged the federal government to shoot down any unidentified drones in the area. Lawmakers from both parties have been pressing investigators and regulators for answers for weeks."

If these UAVs are classified US defenses, then for Christ sake, DOD should declassify them and tell the citizens that these are our forces defending our nation. If not, then our POTUS needs to do his job and authorize DOD to protect our borders.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

1/2/4. Ukrainian defense forces attacked an oil depot in the russian city of Oryol on the night of December 14.

This is one of the largest oil product terminals in russia, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ukrainian special forces units, working together with other components of Ukraine's defense forces, carried out the attack.

Ukrainian troops targeted the Stal'noi Kon linear production and dispatch station. As a result of the strike, a massive fire broke out.

3. The Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine released a video showing a Russian Su-30 and three train locomotives being set on fire in Krymsk, Krasnodar Krai, russia.

Outgoing Biden administration eager to fast-track more packages before aid-sceptic Trump takes office early next year.

The United States will give $500m in military aid to Ukraine as part of an 11th-hour push by outgoing President Joe Biden to bolster the country’s defences before he leaves office early next year.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken unveiled the “significant package of urgently needed weapons and equipment” on Thursday, which will include High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, ammunition, drones and armoured vehicles.

President-elect Donald Trump’s election victory last month could lead to drastic cuts in US military aid for Ukraine, a prospect that has led the current administration to rush through billions of dollars in already authorised assistance before he takes office.

The new assistance followed closely on the heels of a $988m security assistance package and a $725m weapons package announced earlier this month.

After Thursday’s package, Biden will still have access to about $5.6bn of Presidential Drawdown Authority to rush weapons from US stocks to the front lines without congressional approval.

National Security spokesman John Kirby said on Thursday that Biden would “continue to provide additional packages right up to the end of this administration”.

The aid comes at a critical stage of the war, with Moscow’s troops closing in on the key city of Pokrovsk in Ukraine’s Donetsk region after a months-long push.

In parallel, Ukraine’s air force reported on Friday that russia had launched a massive barrage of missiles and drones at its energy facilities during the morning rush hour, with power company Yasno reporting that around a half of its 3.5 million consumers were left without power.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said russia fired 93 cruise and ballistic missiles and almost 200 drones, describing it as one of the heaviest bombardments of the country’s energy sector since russia’s full-scale invasion almost three years ago.

Ukrainian defences shot down 81 missiles, including 11 cruise missiles that were intercepted by F-16 warplanes provided by Western allies earlier this year, Zelenskyy said.

russia is “terrorising millions of people” with such assaults, he said.

In moscow, the Defence Ministry said the russian military used long-range precision missiles and drones on “critically important fuel and energy facilities in Ukraine that ensure the functioning of the military industrial complex.”

The strike was in retaliation for Wednesday’s Ukrainian attack using US-supplied the Army Tactical Missile System, or ATACMs, on a russian air base, it said.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

Satellite imagery just 3 days old shows a russian Tank Storage Base is devoid of tanks.

russia's massive tank storage base is down to just 1/4th it's pre-war holdings, and even those remaining are little more than junk.

russia's Central Tank Storage Base is now Virtually Empty - The 22nd.
