Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

IMO the SU34 is way too heavy & slow to tangle with a "Viper" as being a Fighter / Bomber its Airframe is way larger & heavier to support carrying of large amounts of weaponry rather than quality & it has been noted that the SU34 will "DITCH" its payload when faced with such an adversary as it doesn't have the capability to engage the threat laden with such munitions as it slows it down & decreases it's overall flight characteristics turning it into, essentially a slow moving Pig, so it dumps (Ditches) & runs rather than standing & fighting, & when you run, it's easy to get tail shot.
I'd rather guess the Viper used Amraams to shot them down from 50++ km, while the Suchois were approaching for a glide bomb attack.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

Range is a factor yes, but I wouldn't be approaching a target with the intention to strike, fully laden listening to my helmet pinging warnings about an adversary fighter within the 50k limit as that's a death wish IMO.
I would say that the intention was there, to strike, otherwise they wouldn't be up & in the area, but they turned away only to realise that it was too late.
However it unfolded, these invading fuckers are learning that the Vipers are no joke.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

Rocket Man sent 10,000 to start with, so see if he wants to send more after these are slaughtered within a few weeks & getting feedback from his citizens about their involvement in this invasion but I would say that being a dicktaker, his countrymen will welcome it rather than get locked up in some camp for having a different opinion.
One thing's for sure, he's definitely crossed the line & sanctions will definitely be on the agenda for him & his country.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

The liquidation of the russian major general, commander of the 5th separate motorized rifle brigade named after Zakharchenko (former Oplot battalion of the "DPR"), Pavel Klimenko in Ukraine is confirmed.

In particular, the authenticity of his sisters' pages commenting on his death on social networks has been confirmed .

Earlier, Klimenko "became famous" for organizing a torture concentration camp for russian servicemen on the territory of an abandoned mine in Donetsk.

He was also accused of high losses and of collecting money from his subordinates for sending them to the rear.

This is the 13th report of the death of russian generals in the full-scale war against Ukraine. Only 8 of them have been confirmed by the russian authorities.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

In the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the spotlight once again falls on russia’s military technology, specifically its much-touted T-90M “Proryv” tank, hailed by President Vladimir Putin as one of the best tanks in the world.

But recent reports, backed by images shared on social media, reveal a stark and unsettling truth—this symbol of russian military strength was reduced to a barely recognizable wreck.

The tank’s destruction was so complete that it challenges everything we know about russian engineering, particularly its armor systems.

Although the exact cause of the tank’s demise—whether a powerful anti-tank mine or a guided missile—remains uncertain, the extent of the damage and the locations of the hits suggest severe vulnerabilities in the tank’s defense mechanisms.

Most alarmingly, the photos and video reveal a disturbing modification: instead of the expected explosive reactive armor [ERA] tiles, simple construction bricks were seen in their place.

This tank, which was supposed to be a fortress on the battlefield, had been sabotaged long before it ever reached the frontlines. Its armor, made of mere bricks, condemned it to certain destruction.

Key components of the ERA system, such as those on the turret and the critical front upper hull, were noticeably absent.

Whether russia simply ran out of proper ERA tiles or had to divert them elsewhere, possibly to other tanks, remains speculative.

However, the presence of construction bricks as a stand-in for specialized armor suggests this tank was effectively deprived of the necessary upgrades to fight and survive on the modern battlefield.

One particularly telling image shows the cuvette—a critical element of the “Relikt” module’s upper side sections—empty.

To remove or install these sections, the module itself must first be unscrewed, but the bolt head blocks the process.

But this particular T-90M may not be alone in its misfortune. If one tank had to undergo such a cost-cutting modification, it raises the troubling possibility that other russian tanks on the battlefield may have faced similar fates.

It seems unlikely that only one tank would be sent into battle without the necessary upgrades—especially given the strategic importance of the T-90M.

Could it be that several tank crews are sitting on a “barrel of gunpowder,” waiting for the inevitable?

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

Looks like T-90Ms need a new nickname. Maybe Великая кирпичная крепость, the great brick fortress!

North Korean troops join fighting alongside Russian forces, US says
North Korean soldiers have actively joined fighting alongside Russian forces, according to the US State Department.
"Over 10,000 DPRK (North Korean) soldiers have been sent to eastern Russia, and most of them have moved to the far western Kursk Oblast, where they have begun engaging in combat operations with Russian forces," state department spokesperson Vedant Patel told reporters.
It's the first time the US has said that North Korean troops are actively engaged in fighting against Ukraine.
Reports suggest that Vladimir Putin is trying to recover the Kursk region from Ukraine before Donald Trump's inauguration in January - effectively removing it from any potential negotiating table.
Ukrainian troops launched an invasion of the area earlier this year and have successfully held parts of the Russian territory.
US and European news outlets suggested that as many 50,000 Russian and North Korean troops had massed on the border of the region in the last few days.
