Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III

So i think russia has found its replacement for wagner ..Redut,aatleast on a small scale. I cant find much on them but apparantley they have been in Ukraine since the beginning ...maybe i just missed em.. found this statement but idk if its true or what.

Redut is not a legally registered private military company in Russia. It is believed to be a front for the Russian military intelligence agency, the GRU. This allows the Russian government to deploy Redut mercenaries without having to take responsibility for their actions.

Russian opposition outlet Sever Realii reported on October 11 that Russian MoD representatives may have recruited over 1,000 convicts to serve in the Russian MoD-affiliated Redut private military company (PMC).[67] Sever Realii reported that most of the convicts serve in Redut’s “Veterans,” “Lynx,” “Tiger,” “Wolves,” and “North” detachments. Russian MoD representatives reportedly promise convicts amnesty from their crimes after six months of military service but in exchange force them to sign a one-year contract with the MoD. A Russian human rights activist told Sever Realii that the recruitment of prisoners may be more of a burden for Redut than it was for the Wagner Group because most Redut personnel do not understand how to behave around prisoners. The activist also noted that Wagner was able to recruit directly from prisons, while Redut does not have direct access to prisons and is forced to accept the convicts that Russian MoD representatives recruit.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III

On the outer roadstead of occupied Sevastopol, most likely by a sea mine, the Vasily Bykov-class patrol ship "Pavel Derzhavin" was damaged or blown up.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III

I've heard some reasons as well, i.e
1) Mostly, more ammo per mag.
2) They discovered that soldiers mostly fire at random, especially when receiving fire and being suppressed( just like most firefights seen on these forums, people just fire from cover, without looking ).
If you dont aim, its better to fire more bullets and cover a larger area for a longer period of time. It gives you better odds of hitting something and better suppression.
3) 7.62 is also unnescessarily powerful. Its good when fighting in bushes and dense forests, but not that good on flat open grounds and urban environment. 5.56 is easily deflected by branches and stopped by treetrunks. 7.66 will punch through a mid-sized log and kill whoever is taking cover behind it.
4) As for accuracy, i'd say, when firing single shots, 7.62 is more accurate than 5.56 .
I've fired both and with 7.62 I hit almost 100%, 49 hits out of 50. With 5.56, my accuracy was maybe 50%.
AR10 for me & 7.62 all the way.

5.56 is ok but if you want stopping power with a single shot in the field then 7.62 is the go to system IMO, rather than taking half a dozen shots with a 5.56 at a person who is in their kit as you will get ricochet from the items in this kit that has different things in it across the chest, namely mags & other items that make it hard to punch through with the lower caliber 5.56 & most wear some type of Body Armour that's hard to penetrate, But saying that, the 5.56 is good if your into spraying the field everywhere with shells hoping to hit something & even if you're lucky to hit something, that doesn't mean that they are out of the game as it has a better survival rate than the 7.62 Nato round as if you get hit with a 7.62 round, you can safely say that the bullet will go through the kit & seriously fuck up the target.

So IMO, if you want more accuracy & bang for your buck, take the 7.62 as I would rather hump something with a bit more stopping power than not.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III

Continued efforts in Zaporizhia, UA forces continue to pressure Kopani and Novoprokopivka.

I'd just like to thank you Whiskey. I know nothing of combat or weapons and you contribute a lot for me

"The Czech Republic and Denmark will supply Ukraine with weapons and equipment (including heavy equipment) as part of a joint project .

As part of the project, the first military package will be delivered in the coming months, which will include:

✅2,500 pistols
✅7,000 rifles
✅500 light machine guns
✅500 large-caliber machine guns
✅500 sniper rifles
✅280 recoilless guns
✅7,000 anti-tank weapons
✅10,000 hand grenades
✅60 mortar systems
✅50 BMP and APC
✅unmanned aerial defense systems
✅means of electronic warfare and intelligence
✅large caliber ammunition

ℹ️ All this should be a product of the Czech defense industry, and Denmark should finance the delivery. In the following military packages, it is planned to supply Ukraine with infantry fighting vehicles, battle tanks, heavy weapons and other equipment from the production and warehouses of Czech private companies."

As if they ever took responsibility for anything the regular army did either..

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III

A new report suggests that after the death of PMC Wagner Chief Yevgeny Prigozhin, close to 5000 Wagner militants joined Redut Donbas. Redut is a volunteer guard, which differs from Wagner, which is a private military contractor group, but their goal stays the same.

It's just a Wagner part II with the same goal.
