Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
It won't end... well maybe with our destruction. Biological species being destroyed by their own robots is one of the many possible answers to Fermi's Paradox (If aliens exist, why haven't we seen real evidence of them). If we are able to harness this invention, and prevent it from doing us harm, I imagine the sky is the limit with its implementation and positive effect on humanity but it may need to be tightly controlled. |

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is urging several Group of 20 leaders to meet some of Russia’s demands to try to revive a deal that had allowed Ukrainian grain shipments and eased global food prices. Erdogan, who helped broker the original Black Sea Grain Initiative in 2022, is making the push in closed-door meetings with leaders during the G-20 summit in New Delhi this weekend, people familiar with the talks said. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan held talks with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at the G20 leaders' summit in New Delhi on reviving the Black Sea grain deal, two sources with knowledge of the matter said on Saturday. Russia quit the deal in July - a year after it was brokered by the United Nations and Turkey - complaining that its own food and fertiliser exports faced obstacles and that not enough Ukrainian grain was going to countries in need. The sources on the sidelines of the summit declined to give more details. Erdogan had said earlier this week, after talks with Russia's Vladimir Putin, that it would soon be possible to revive the grain deal. He said Ukraine should soften its negotiating position against Russia in talks over reviving the deal and export more grain to Africa rather than Europe. However, Ukraine on Friday opposed the idea of easing sanctions on Russia in order to revive the deal. Meanwhile Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi arrived in Kyiv on an unannounced visit, Kyodo News reports. In Kyiv, Hayashi will meet with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and tell him about Japan's plans to hold a conference to promote the economic recovery of Ukraine early next year. |

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
The Biden administration is likely to send Ukraine long-range Army Tactical Missile Systems, or ATACMS, to help in its fight to repel the Russian invasion of its territory, according to US officials. “They are coming,” said one official who had access to security assistance plans, noting that such plans may still change until officially announced. Another official told ABC News that the final decision has not been made. Still, missiles are “on the table” and likely to be included in an upcoming military aid package. However, it can take months before Ukraine receives the ATACMS. Deploying ATACMS with a range of up to 300 km can allow Ukraine to reach targets almost four times further away than using the currently-provided GMLRS rockets for HIMARS and M270 multiple rocket launchers. The U.S. has found it has more ATACMS in its inventory than originally assessed, the two officials told. The serviceability of the rediscovered stockpile is not yet clear, nor which specific type of missiles it contains. ATACMS come in several forms, from missiles with large high-explosive warheads, to anti-personnel cluster-munition versions that drop hundreds of bomblets on targets. In addition to giving Ukrainian crews much greater standoff distance when striking Russian positions making it more difficult for the Russians to fire back ATACMS could also help Ukraine more easily reach targets in Crimea. Specific targets in Crimea would be command and control, logistics hubs, especially ammunition facilities and air bases. |

"Russia has deployed more than 420,000 troops in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories, including Crimea, the Main Intelligence Directorate reports. Deputy Chief of the DIU Vadym Skibitskyi noted that the occupiers are currently conducting the most active combat operations in two areas: Kupyansk-Lyman and Maryinka-Donetsk, in order to accomplish at least one task and fully reach the administrative borders of Luhansk and Donetsk regions."
