Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
No "western" jets yet and no subs. And thankfully, no nukes. There's a slight chance I could be wrong but there is NO WAY anyone is going to give nukes to Ukraine. Cluster munitions have been used by both sides already so there's nothing really noteworthy there. People were freaking out about thermobaric weapons early on with this war too... but those are being used daily now too. If full on nuclear war breaks out... nothing at Costco is going to help. I believe one of the reasons the US dropped atomic bombs in the 40's is because no one else could fight back with anything of the same caliber. It was pretty fucked up, if you ask me. I don't think nuclear weapons are a weapon that should even exist or had by anyone. Why should anyone have the ability to annihilate nearly the entire human race at the press of a button. That's just too much power. It is indeed pretty scary what's happening but I refuse to live in fear again like I did when I was younger. I've been arguing with myself for months whether this is worse than growing up through the cold war or if nuclear war seems more possible now than it did back then. My human side has to believe that the powers that be would never go there. But my non emotional, logical side can't rule it out. It really boils down to ego and pride. Who can concede and swallow their pride enough to prevent it? What might be even scarier or more worrisome for me... the amount of people in the world who really have NO CLUE just how bad things are with this whole thing right now. Especially here in America. People are completely absorbed in themselves, their social media, politics and all the other distractions we have today to pay attention to this. And most who do have some knowledge of it get their information from the media, solely. The aim of the media overall is very targeted in most countries... but there is a very important and large "big picture" here than no one sees on the news. I prefer not to fearmonger and tend to believe that this won't get to the point where we're all rushing to Costco and digging underground bunkers. But I also fear not being mentally prepared if it does happen. Sorry I'm rambling.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
NO MEDIA "Biden approved the provision of US cluster munitions to Ukraine. The withdrawal of weapons from the reserves of the Ministry of Defense should be announced today, Friday , - WP . In addition to the headline, the Washington Post wrote a whole article, so I wrote out the most interesting. ℹ️Currently, Congress has established restrictions on the transfer of this type of projectiles with a "cassette" firing rate of no more than 1%. However, Biden will circumvent this by using the provisions of the Foreign Assistance Act (which has been used in unique cases throughout the history of the United States). It authorizes the president to grant aid, regardless of appropriations or arms export restrictions, if he determines it is vital to the national security interests of the United States. ℹ️According to the reports of the US Department of Defense, 4.7 million cluster shells, missiles, rockets and bombs, containing more than 500 million submunitions, remain in military warehouses. ℹ️At the end of March, a group of high-ranking Republicans , including the heads of the defense and foreign affairs committees, as well as high-ranking members of the relevant Senate committees, began to actively pressure the White House. They appealed to the fact that this would allow Ukraine to compensate for Russia's quantitative advantage in both personnel and artillery shells, and would also allow the Armed Forces to concentrate the use of conventional shells against higher-priority Russian targets. ℹ️The administration began to soften its position on the transfer of cluster shells against the background of a shortage of standard artillery ammunition. ℹ️Before making a decision, in recent weeks, the Biden administration actively worked to allay the concerns of allies about the transfer of such weapons to Kyiv. ℹ️Ukraine assured that the "cassettes" will be used exclusively for field purposes so as not to harm civilians. Human Right Watch could not be done without. In short, in their own words, they are "deeply concerned" about the US decision. They say that the reports of the Ministry of Defense about the ratio of 1-2% of unexploded submunitions are not true, because practical tests were not conducted, etc. ...this is a threat to civilians and sappers, who then demine it. They even published a report stating that the Ukrainians' use of cluster munitions "caused numerous deaths and serious injuries to civilians" during the de-occupation of Izyum and other cities in 2022. In turn, the Americans say that the Russian Federation also uses "cassettes", where the ratio of unexploded submunitions exceeds 8%."

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
All Good ! You're not rambling WM. Things are escalating, that's easy to see BUT me, always being the optimist, see that things can also change for the better, given the chance & IMO the only way this is going to happen is that the Kremlin falls from within & I just hope that there's a few smart & brave people left who can see that this needs to happen & bring about these changes as otherwise the world, as we know it, will forever change because of nuclear warfare, as this is only going to get worse before it gets any better & the russian ppl can stop this, they can just give up & return to their homeland & stop all this totally unnecessary land grab shit orchestrated by an asshole who quite obviously doesn't give a fuck about his own ppl, as we have seen & they must also know this but they don't do anything productive to stop it, well they are weaker than I thought that they were ! |
