Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room
The Ukraine Armed Forces is already using high-precision GPS and inertial-guided JDAM smart bombs with a range of 72 km, - US Air Force Europe and Africa Commander James Hecker These JDAM kits can be attached to unguided bombs weighing between 220 and 900 kg. Once released, the bomb spreads its wings, allowing it to glide up to 72 km and triples the range of the original weapon. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zon...nal-in-ukraine |

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room
Russian fortifications being built in Zaporizhia oblast in the south. Not sure how old this is. First photo, a tank trap on the right going top to bottom. On the left is the main trench complex, which for some reason they did not zig-zag very much to mitigate the effects of arriving artillery/mortars. Vehicle positions were dug on the left. Second photo, excavators can be seen digging fighting positions, and likely a tank trap at the bottom going across left to right. |

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room
I used to put prisoner exchanges in the media thread but putting them here now as there's no actual war footage with them. "As a result of another exchange of prisoners, it was possible to return home 126 defenders and 4 defenders. These are soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, border guards, national guardsmen, DSST. Among them are 87 defenders of Mariupol, 71 of whom are from <Azovstal>. Also, those captured in the Bakhmut and Soledar regions, a total of 35 people from the Donetsk direction, were released."

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room
American JDAM-ER GPS and inertial guided munition has greatly increased (x3) range due to it having wings. Reportedly it is already in Ukraine and currently being used in the past ~week. My opinion: Because the aircraft needs significant altitude to drop the JDAM-ER to take advantage of its glide capabilities, special consideration would need to be given to Russian air defense in the area before a JDAM sortie. The higher you are the more detectable you are, in that case the use of AGM-88 HARM missiles would be needed to destroy enemy radar installations in the area which provide both detection and targeting for Russian air defense systems such as the S-300, 400, Pantsir and Buk series anti aircraft guided missile platforms. AGM-88 HARM specifically detect and guide to a source of radar emission, arriving and destroying a system like mentioned above. |

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room
In case anyone here isn’t aware, a blue bomb body is a training munition. Olive drab with yellow or red nose are the real deal. I have a friend who works at The Pentagon who works in procurement and testing for Air Force munitions. One of “his” projects are JDAM’s and variants. Quite an upgrade from MK82 and MK84 GP bombs I started with. |

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room
Good point ride. This is me with a 120mm M865 training sabot round at Ft. Knox KY 2009. The "real" sabots for the most part just substitute black where you see blue, a different material penetrator (sabot) but slightly longer. The entire casing burns up in the gun except the very end.

You look so young Whiskey! =========== "Panthera T6 is produced by MSPV in the United Arab Emirates and at the Ankara military plant in Turkey. The supplier and customer of these vehicles in Ukraine is unknown. The vehicle is built on a 79-series Toyota Land Cruiser chassis, has a 4-liter V6 engine, permanent all-wheel drive, and a manual gearbox."
