Looks like "spoils of war" is on a slim side. Plus, the guys talking in pure russian and not ukrainian (which is just fucked up russian). In the beginning guy says: this is our fight from yesterday, come and have a look, our enemies would not even come out to pick up their dead. Then they just proceeds to describe what they see and one guy complains of getting his trousers dirty when he went into the cab of the truck and another teases him. They don't actually say what side they belong to or I might have missed it- there was few words I could not understand (army slang, maybe)  |

Do you have a minute?  Big mixture of sides, including US trained Right-wing militia and Russian Troops. It's a sort of civil war, fueled by Russia on one side, and the U.S. services (CIA etc) on the other.. A truly proxy war, being fought over the Backs of Ukraine. How it started was a bit a grey area.. But basically it's certain party's wanted more EU, and other ones wanted to stay with Mother Russia.. So now 1 / 3rd is in Separatist hands (Russia) and both sides struggle around some seize fire. There is some very Nasty stuff around from the years of fighting .. It reminds a bit of the Tsjechen war, the brutality  Hatred fueled fighters, mixed with some poorly equipped Conscripts Recipe for disaster |

The ones walking around are Russian. Not regular Russian army though. Look to be pro-russian militia. It was an ambush alright. Not heavy weapons though. Light machine guns and shoulder fired rifles. There wouldn't be much left of the dead Ukrainians if heavy weapons were used. How about him picking the brains off the paperwork though?  |

Looks like they ambushed a supply line truck. Common trucks (even military ones) give barely any cover from rifle fire, its not like in movies where you can just stand behind a car door all day and keep shooting, rifle caliber goes through that easily. Same with helmets, they're not designed to shield your head from bullets, but shrapnel. Assault rifle shot to your head will instantly kill you, helmet or not.
