This is going on for 8 centuries or something, all over borders and temples but recently, a month or so ago Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Manet announced plans to reduce reliance on Thai electricity and internet infrastructure and banned Thai imports, escalating economic retaliations.

And in july a leaked phone call between Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and Cambodia’s de facto leader Hun Sen, in which Paetongtarn called Hun Sen “uncle” and criticized a Thai military commander, sparked outrage in Thailand.

Paetongtarn was suspended on July 1, 2025, for ethical violations, further destabilizing Thai politics.

Yesterday heavy clashes erupted near Ta Muen Thom, involving gunfire, artillery, and Thai F-16 airstrikes on Cambodian military targets.

Cambodia accused Thailand of damaging Preah Vihear Temple, a UNESCO site, and using cluster munitions, claims Thailand denied.

Both sides reported civilian casualties and infrastructure damage, with Thailand closing all border checkpoints.

Actually Thailand reported 15 deaths (14 civilians, incl. children, and 1 soldier) and 31 injuries.

Cambodia confirmed at least one civilian and one soldier killed but has not released a full casualty toll. Over 40,000 civilians from both sides have been evacuated.

The Thai army is 4 times bigger as the Cambodian and the Thai have F-16's while Cambodians have Chinese made weapons. The social medias are riddled with military vids so there will be less normal deaths posted in those channels i guess.

It's over Temple of Preah Vihear. ICJ ruled that it has belong to Cambodia rightful owner. Thailand refused to agree. It's long time disputes.
