Re: SAS and US Marines Firefight with Taliban Turns into a Cookout with Willie Pete
A British reg is better trained than a US marine. Its common knowledge British troops are the best trained in the world. And I call BS. SAS do NOT do missions with US marines. And yes I now about this stuff

It is exercised on the last month of the training and is to ensure the members of the group that they could trust each other with their lives. The Trust Shot consists of two members of a squad standing next to paper target boards, while another member fires on the targets with a handgun while walking towards them from 15 meters (49.2126 ft) away. The shooter fires one magazine on each target before handing the weapon to the 2nd shooter behind him. After which the second shooter also fires two magazines on the targets. After the exercise is complete, the shooter switch place and the shot is employed again. The second portion of the exercise is almost the same with the exception of being done with a rifle and the shooter starts walking towards the target from 30 meters (98.4252 ft) away. During the exercise the men standing next to the targets are not allowed to move or wear body armor. Re: SAS and US Marines Firefight with Taliban Turns into a Cookout with Willie Pete
If you define best as "which individual Army is most likely to win a war against a foreign power?", then the answer is undoubtedly the United States. Although they have a smaller Army than the Chinese in terms of manpower, their technology is, at this time, far superior making them more likely to succeed in all out war. That said, war is rarely straight forward and allegiances are often formed to bring down a common enemy who could not be defeated by an individual nation. For example, if the United States entered into war with A member of the European Union, the other members would probably come to it's aid. In this situation, the eventual victor of the conflict would probably be the allied Europeans as together they have similar technology to the United States but a greater number of troops and a stronger economy. If the playing field was level in terms of man power and technology the situation changes again, with the emphasis being on the skill of the Individual soldier and the strategy of the army. Here the British probably excel, having regiments like the SAS, Royal Marines and Parachute regiment with a reputation for stringent discipline and intensive training (the Royal Marines have the longest basic training course of any normal infantry soldiers in the world at 33 weeks). Of course the US is not far behind with Delta Force or the Navy SEALs but the size of their special forces makes it harder to train all of the soldiers to the same level that other nations may do. The Gurkhas should probably receive and honorable mention - they fight as part of the British army but hail from Nepal, so in a way they could be seen as an unofficial Nepalese army - in which case they would be the best trained and most skilled of any Army in the world, although lacking technology and manpower, they have proved themselves time and again in conflict. Historically, Britain and America have always been very strong militarily, although Britain has a richer history. Since the official creation of both the British Army, no foreign power has ever managed to invade Britain (although this could also be down to the fact it i an Island nation). The same can be said for the US; once the British left they have had no need to actually defend their country itself - just allies or overseas territories. Compare these two to places that may have faced similar threats militarily, like Russia, France and Germany and their long standing dominance is very impressive. Going back even further, the title of best Army in the world could be given to the Roman Army, as for several hundreds of years, they were head and shoulders above their nearest rivals. The Greeks might have a claim to having the toughest soldiers in the Spartans, who even today are world renowned as being seriously good fighters (they won one of most one sided battles in History at Thermoplyae in 480BC. Their entire lives were devoted to fighting and training so it's easy to imagine how they were such good fighters. In conclusion: The Top ten "best" Armies at this time in terms of expenditure and man power, training and equipment. 1. United States 2. China 3. United Kingdom 4. France 5. Russia 6. Japan 7. Germany 8. Italy 9. India 10.Saudi Arabia Historically (looking at the most militarily powerful nations of the last few hundred years) the list should probably go; 1. Britain 2. France 3. Germany 4. Russia 5. USA So wheres Turkey bro? Until your last post I'd never heard of the Maroon Berets. And if they are good, my hat goes off to them. But being able to defuse a bomb quicker doesn't make that soldier any better than the next. Soldiers of each country are trained to do things a certain way. This Maroon Beret may well have had a higher percentage chance of blowing the thing up than the Delta Force did by taking his time |

As before - not SAS. They spend all their time dressing up like the Taliban and playing hide & seek. Also, I'm pretty an SAS trooper would have something to say about being filmed! I'm going to guess Infantry Commandos (1 below SAS) on an attachment for some reason. |

As stated on that site. I'm sure there are many lists which can have doubt shed upon them. Mine included. But that site makes it sound like a computer game so am much inclined to never take any notice of that site. But getting waaaaaaaaay of point here and this could go on all night. I'm damn tired and can't be arsed to debate any further. |

Re: SAS and US Marines Firefight with Taliban Turns into a Cookout with Willie Pete
Why the fuck do brits talk shit about american and vise verse? I've never had any problem working with brits while deployed. They didn't seem to care either because we all want the same thing. Even though we are different countries we are still allies. To the guy who said "SAS would never work with marines" You're dumb as a god damn plant. When people say shit like that it makes it very obvious that they have never served in any military because I'll be the first to say (as an american) the brits are trained very well and are great to work with. I only met them a few times though because I got called in for an IED sweep. They are very professional but their morale is high just like ours. Whooping and getting excited is more like a sign of morale to me. Do you think that if someone was shooting at you and you got to blow them into bite size pieces you wouldnt be excited? Think again. I love my branch with a fierce emotion and any one who is fighting for the same cause as us is a friend of mine.
