Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread VII
Has anyone come across a genuinely effective solution to counter drones, including drone drops and Kazi drones? Perhaps there is a potent answer that hasn't been widely implemented in the unmanned aerial (UA) theater—both in terms of technology and tactics. I'm inclined to believe that only a fraction of the videos showcasing successful anti-drone technology is publicly available. This limitation is understandable given the effectiveness of such measures. I am confident that NATO countries, having experienced the challenges posed by drones in a defensive context, are actively engaging in comprehensive think tanks to address this issue. The ongoing transition from traditional human infantry to advanced technologies like Boston Dynamics undoubtedly requires the emergence of new squad roles. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread VII
“U kraya” - next to an edge/border ( of Polish lands on the west or Russian Tcsar lands on the east) Okraina - edge/border. U kraina/ Vkraina - Ukraine. I tend to believe that my ancestors lived on the edge of two empires and sometime they would join Russia, sometime, Poland. Both empires used to call this people Okraintsami ( Ukraintsami/ Ukrainians) people who lives on the borders. Borderers would be the perfect translation of “Ukrainians” i think. Time has passed and term for people of the borders became a nation. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread VII
My assessment from way back when I said that Ukrainian attacks are inaccurate and show signs of unpreparedness (due to probably lack of resources which only further shows their incapability to capture back the land) is only confirmed by what happened there over the last 6 months. It's now finally seeping into mainstream media - Ukraine doesn't have neither the manpower, nor the momentum, not the capabilities to conduct another surprising Kherson/Kharkiv blow to ruSSkies. It's most probably over and we're stalled for years there - as it is now. Both armies will now start to build back their potentials and will withhold attacks soon. It'll be only about the defense from both sides UNTIL the next attack years from now. So it seems like we've reached a stalemate now. ruSSkies will attack and probably will take two or three villages etc but in general the cost of their attacks will be too big and soon it will all be put on pause. And we're looking at another 2014-2022 years of stalemate and boredom with a lot of positional provocations and single drone attacks to remind the world that the grievance is still there. Death of Putin and Lavrov will be just a good occasion for everybody to sign new accords which will be a compromise. Ukraine will not be accepted neither by NATO nor EU in the foreseeable future (we're looking at 15-20 years minimum) but they will all find a formula to sign multilateral agreements that will provide some kind of handicap to reboot Ukraine's economy and get it back on track. Something like 'a shield deal' that makes Ukraine a junior partner rather than a member. Drones proved really effective only when being used in the sequence: 1. First drone drop pins a ruSSkie to the ground 2. Second drone drop seriously wounds or kills him. Ukies are almost never able to drop a second one - maybe their drones are too light or maybe they think that it's better to pin 15 rusSkies to the ground rather than seriously wound 5 of them. ruSSkies almost always drop a second grenade and it's very effective. Ukies seem to not understand a simple truth - if they do not liquidate a ruSSkie effectively the scum will be back to the battlefield murdering their colleagues a week later. So the whole effort of obtaining the drone, equipping it with grenades, sending the crew to the hunting zone, spotting ruSSkies, dropping the grenade successfully and then being able to retreat without great fuss - this whole effort goes to SHIT and the war is therefore stalled on Ukie side - no progress, surface wounds, nothing serious. Maybe it's an intentional conduct to 1. not kill (moral restraints) 2. sabotage own army ? All in all it leads to where we are now. ruSSkies still have hordes of zombies they can throw at Ukies who don't like or don't know how to liquidate them effectively. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread VII
Damn thanks, couldn't stop reading... Several I had no clue about.. This one especially stuck out to me.. The SMASH optics Smart Shooter, an Israel-based company, won a contract from the U.S. Army to supply their Smash 2000L optics for small arms and rifles for the counter-UAS program. This system allows users to precisely and accurately target small drones by using artificial intelligence, assisted vision, and advanced algorithms But this snippet at the end of the article makes me wonder just how effective some of those listed are against these small quads. The military has been facing difficulties in dealing with small drones, also known as sUAS (small Unmanned Aerial Systems). These drones are hard to spot and are available for purchase by the public, making them a threat to military installations |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread VII
You're always so very happy. Considering the UAF have not only held off but are now pushing the russians back tells me that they are doing an excellent job overall. Maybe you should look at the big picture rather than small segments of the invasion to see that, as a whole, the Ukrainian ppl are doing a great job. Ppl hear have tried to suggest that you get a better understanding of what shrapnel can do to a body & that you don't need the munitions to go off in their faces ect as all it takes is for &1 ball bearing to hit & mame or nick an artery to bleed out over time ect & because your adrenalin is so high you don't actually realize that you've been hit till long after the event & even times where you don't realize until it's too late. This is the last time that I personally reach out to you & try to school you up on the subject as I have novelled you a couple of times about it, but you failed to realize that I was trying to help you see that it's worth looking at it from a different perspective before you pass judgement on what you're failing to understand, but I now see by your repeated sarcasm that that you're a very naive individual who is failing to recognize the basic fundamentals of munitions & that your views will not change from your current stand point, so now I will not take the time out anymore to try & explain that you don't necessarily need a close contact detonation to mortally wound a combatant ect as your viewpoint is clearly closed on the matter & I'm not going to waste anymore of my time reiterating the above, over & over & over. I've tried to be civil with you like a lot of other ppl here, but I'm afraid that it's all in vain & I can also see by other ppl comments that they are basically sick of you 2 for the same reason I might add, so it's bye bye from me. There's a saying & it goes, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink" & this applies to your case. Slava Ukraini ! |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread VII
Your overall assessment here is so catastrophically wrong I'm not even sure if I want to even address it. How you only concentrate on a few videos and then completely dismiss 80% of them is absolutely bizarre to me.
