Ukraine 'loses 15%' of its Bradley fighting vehicles
Ukraine has lost 16 US-supplied armoured vehicles in the first few days of its counteroffensive, reports CNN.
The number of Bradley infantry fighting vehicles destroyed or damaged amounts to 15% of those Washington gave Kyiv, according to open-source intelligence analysis seen by the news site.
Jakub Janovsky of Oryx, the Dutch website which collated the data, told CNN many of the vehicles were damaged and abandoned rather than destroyed, suggesting they have been doing their job - carrying troops more safely to offensive positions.
The Institute for the Study of War has previously said it would expect hardware losses during an offensive like the one undertaken by Ukraine and this is not indicative of whether or not the counteroffensive will succeed.

Imagine the world without this ruSSkie. You will never see him again. You will never see him raping, killing, drinking vodka, mutilating and then being given a medal for all those. Then collecting the money. Then taking his ruSSkie swine with his ruSSkie piglets. And going for holiday in Turkey or Greece or wherever. You will never see that! Also - you will never see dugina. You will never see tatarsky. They will never breed any new piglets to this world. Piglets that might actually want to continue their parents ruSSkie-zoo plan. You will absolutely never see this ever again. Ask yourself now - is sacrificing money from your taxes worth it. Ask yourself that.
Can we ban this racist?

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread V

Keeping in mind that Iran is designated a State Sponsor or Terrorism by the United States State Department, this is from the New York Times (text highlighted by myself):

"A drone factory that Iran is helping Russia build could be operational next year, the U.S. says.

Washington is trying to raise the pressure on Tehran and make it more difficult to complete the work on the factory, which would enable Russia’s military to produce drones domestically.

By Julian E. Barnes and Christoph Koettl
June 9, 2023

WASHINGTON — The military partnership between Moscow and Tehran is deepening, White House officials said on Friday as they released newly declassified information about a drone factory that Iran is helping Russia build.

Russia has repeatedly used Iranian-made drones to attack Ukraine in recent months, including strikes on civilian targets, buildings and electrical infrastructure as part of a push to break Ukrainian morale. And as Moscow’s own weapons stocks have diminished, Iran has become a key supplier of military aid to Russia.

The new factory, which is planned for a warehouse in the Yelabuga region several hundred miles east of Moscow, would allow Russia’s military to have its own domestically produced source of attack drones. Iran is providing materials for the plant, said John Kirby, the National Security Council spokesman, who added that the facility could be operational next year.

Plans for the plant have been known for some time. The Wall Street Journal reported plans for a potential drone factory in Yelabuga in February, and the White House released a satellite image of the factory’s intended site that was dated in early April.

An examination of satellite imagery by The New York Times shows a series of new buildings constructed in the industrial area since 2021. Construction on the buildings highlighted by the White House in the declassified intelligence started at the end of January 2021, and a small structure was recently added, the Times review showed.

By releasing the declassified information, American officials are trying to raise the pressure on Iran and make it more difficult to complete the work. On Friday, Mr. Kirby also said the United States would release a new advisory intended to help businesses around the world ensure that “they are not inadvertently contributing” to Iran’s drone program.

A key part of America’s strategy for helping Ukraine is to prevent Russia from gaining access to new military equipment or rebuilding its depleted stocks. And hindering trade between Russia and Iran is one of the most important elements of that effort.

Currently, according to the White House, Russian ships transport drones from Amirabad, Iran, across the Caspian Sea to Makhachkala, Russia. From there, they are transported to two bases: one northeast of Ukraine and one east of Ukraine. They are then used to attack Ukrainian targets.

Mr. Kirby said the arms trade between Iran and Russia was flowing both ways.

“Russia has been offering Iran unprecedented defense cooperation, including on missiles, electronics and air defense,” he said, adding that Iran had finalized a deal to buy Su-35 fighter jets from Russia and was seeking attack helicopters, radars and combat trainer aircraft.

Washington believes that the drone purchases are violations of United Nations Security Council resolutions and has imposed sanctions on Iranian companies involved in designing, building and transporting the drones.

Mr. Kirby described the cooperation between Iran and Russia as “a full-scale defense partnership that is harmful to Ukraine, to Iran’s neighbors and to the international community."

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread V

This is from Reuters (text highlighted by myself):

"US concerned North Korea plans to deliver more weapons to Russia
Reuters
June 12, 2023 7:01 PM EDT

WASHINGTON, June 12 (Reuters) - The United States is concerned that North Korea is planning to deliver more weapons to Russia, a U.S. State Department spokesperson said on Monday after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un vowed to bolster strategic cooperation with Moscow.

Earlier on Monday, North Korea's KCNA state news agency said Kim made the pledge in a message to Russian President Vladimir Putin marking Russia's National Day.

Kim called for "closer strategic cooperation" with Moscow, "holding hands firmly with the Russian president, in conformity with the common desire of the peoples of the two countries to fulfil
(sic) the grand goal of building a powerful country," KCNA said.

The State Department spokesperson said that despite Pyongyang's denials that it had sold weapons to Russia for its war in Ukraine, the United States had confirmed North Korea had completed an arms delivery, including infantry rockets and missiles, to the Kremlin-backed Wagner mercenary group in November 2022.

"We are concerned that the DPRK is planning to deliver more military equipment to Russia," the spokesperson added, using the initials of North Korea's official name.

North Korea has sought to forge closer ties with the Kremlin and backed Moscow after it invaded Ukraine last year, blaming the "hegemonic policy" and "high-handedness" of the United States and the West.

The United States said in March it had new information that Russia was actively seeking to acquire additional weapons from North Korea in exchange for food aid.

In March, Washington imposed sanctions on a Slovakian man it said had tried to arrange the sale of over two dozen types of North Korean weapons and munitions to Russia to help Moscow replace military equipment lost in its war with Ukraine.

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread V

So as sky news confirms that the tactical nukes are going into Belarus the clock ticks closer to midnight and it’s only a matter of time before one of them flies and this whole thing comes to the climax we all seem to be hoping it doesn’t.

That little crackpot leader there even says he would use them himself given the chance.

I think it’s getting scarier and scarier Poo Tin is proving he doesn’t have a problem with taking actions that will affect the civilian population like the damn destruction and resulting floods for instance.

As I keep saying. He’s getting to an age where he doesn’t give a shit. What’s he got 10 maybe 15 years left of good health if he’s lucky. Maybe five of being in power.

He’s not the type that’s going to retired quietly and disappear. He’s going to do the unthinkable. And when we are all sitting dying of radiation burns or starving and freezing to death ourselves. Everyone will be wondering why no one did anything to stop him in the first place.

They’ll say the signs were there but no one took action enough to stop it before it got to the point of no return.

I literally sit here and worry if I’ll be around next year given what’s happening. And living in London next to a potential target the only thing I can be grateful for is that it will be a swift end.

I really hope that if he gives that order whoever he gives it too will have the presence of mind to not do it.

What I don’t understand is why didn’t Russia being this vast superpower didn’t do what the US would have done which is on that first day. Wiped the floor with Ukraine. Neutralise all targets and then occupy. Did he have doubts he wouldn’t have been allowed too. It seems Ukraine actually wasn’t this little second rate nobody who rolled over the moment they were kicked. Quite the opposite in fact. Good on them.
It says to me that although they have nukes the level of technology is far behind anything the US have or possibly even china have for that matter.

Perhaps if Russia didn’t have that nuclear deterrent China itself maybe have just walked across e border and taken control and we’d have seen a swift end.

For all of the talking they are doing one thing you can say about China is they have minded their own business and held their corner.

Overall money wise I bet they are is the best position of all superpowers in terms of liquidity and cold hard currency funding. And in terms of tech. Probably on a part or even Surpassing the Us in a lot of departments.

I hope what I am writing is just my take on it and none of it is true or even remotely close to the reality. But even if it is a tiny bit. It’s something that seems slowly to be turning into a reality.

T-14 Armata is something that exists that also doesn't.

Reasons why I think there hasn't been a single sighting of a T-14 in Ukraine:

- It's shit and they want to hide it

- There's so few of them they will make zero difference

- A captured T-14 would be a massive embarrassment for Russia as they love to brag about their "top" technology, which isn't

- They completely lack the ability to support, repair, refurbish its components

Quite frankly as a former tanker I think the whole idea of putting everyone in the hull and no one in the turret (like the T-14) makes sense from a safety standpoint but nonsense in practice. There's a reason why the US Army experimented with the concept and abandoned it. Disorients the hell out of the crew inside. But now apparently the new prototype Abrams-X has a crewless turret. Hmmm...

Like I've said before if I see a single confirmed T-34 being used by anyone in Ukraine I will absolutely lose my mind
