Ukr didnt hit the dam just once, they pummeled it for months while Rus was using the road to supply Kherson. certainly not every shell landed on just the road. Rus blew up a part of the dam in November as part of their retreat from Kherson. both armies contributed to the weakening of the overall structure and destruction of the dam. the left bank of the river, (russian side) was heavily fortified and mined. this flooding washes a lot of that away. the right bank, which ukr control is higher elevated and isn't getting flooded. overall, Ukr army benefits more from this flooding. the 5 - 6 heavily fortified layers of 100s of kilometeres of defensive trench lines Rus built between Kherson and Crimea make the assault on Crimea unfeasible. Ukr doesnt have the manpower or resources at this time to overcome these defenses. no rus channel shows any signs of panicking. |
