Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread V
According to the latest news I read, it was the launcher part that received some minor damage. I'm not 100% sure, but I think they believe it's capable of launching more missiles already. Will hear more in the next few days. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread V
ljubodrag avatar watch: Yevgeny Prigozhin https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yevgeny_Prigozhin Yevgeny Viktorovich Prigozhin (Russian: Евгений Викторович Пригожин; born 1 June 1961) is a Russian oligarch and a close confidant of Russian president Vladimir Putin. Prigozhin is sometimes called "Putin's chef", because he owns restaurants and catering companies that provide services for the Kremlin. Once a convict in the Soviet Union, Prigozhin now controls a network of influential companies including the Russian state-backed mercenary company Wagner Group and three companies accused of interference in the 2016 and 2018 U.S. elections. According to a 2022 investigation by Bellingcat, The Insider, and Der Spiegel, Prigozhin's activities "are tightly integrated with Russia's Defence Ministry and its intelligence arm, the GRU". After years of denying his links to Wagner, he eventually confirmed that he was its founder on 26 September 2022. He stated that he founded it in May 2014, to support Russian forces in the war in Donbas. This admission was prompted by a viral video in which Prigozhin was shown in a Mari El prison recruiting inmates, promising them freedom if they served six months with the Wagner Group. Prigozhin had long denied his role in Russian interference in U.S. elections. In November 2022, he admitted his role in such operations, saying they would continue. In February 2023, he stated he was the founder and long-time manager of the Internet Research Agency, a Russian company accused of online propaganda operations. Prigozhin, his companies, and associates face economic sanctions and criminal charges in the United States, and in the United Kingdom he remains a designated person under sanctions. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $250,000 for information leading to the arrest of Prigozhin. I did not copy his whole wiki biography here but it is definitely worth reading. His story is a real rags to riches story from selling hot dogs with his mother and stepfather at a flea market in Leningrad to the powerful oligarch he is today. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread V
I recently read some personal comments/posts written by Russian nurses, who claimed that hospitals in Moscow and other big cities have had a large influx of soldiers wounded in the war. Normally, soldiers are treated near the frontlines, and then in the oblasts closest to the frontline. Apparently, higher ranking soldiers are "promoted" into better hospitals and there is an increased number of wounded amongst the top brass. Its all anecdotal evidence, so I wouldn't take it too seriously, but it does seem plausible since Saint HIMARS has started to pound the enemy rear harder in anticipation of the counter attack. I wonder if it's the same guy who said that "he got all of his soldiers out and left noone behind" ... and then later Ukrainians revealed interviews with his soldiers that were left behind :D |

"Ukraine and the world celebrate World Vyshyvanka Day. The full-scale war has changed the style and trends of traditional embroidered clothing. President Volodymyr Zelensky, in particular, sets the fashion for embroidery. His khaki shirts with symbolic ornaments are becoming popular among Ukrainians. They feature symbols of Kyivan Rus, tanks and armored personnel carriers. The commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, also wears camouflage shirts. Needless to say, the famous pyrotechnic dog Patron also has embroidered shirts." VIDEO - Four pawed Ukrainians celebrate too
