Considering they have Russia as their neighbor, it's not strange that the countries around want NATO as protection. Has Russia ever done a single positive thing for humanity? Reagan was right in his speech, they are an evil empire.

As for Russia not doing anything good for humanity I don't know maybe taking 60‰ of the casualties in world war 2 to help bring the end to Hitler if Hitler did not attack Russia you and I would be speaking German boi! Regarding WW2 they struck a deal with Hitler letting him start it in the first place, and they treated the people in the countries they took just as bad as Hitler. If they werent stupid enough to kill of any half bright commander in their army before the war they probably would had far less casualties.
