Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread IV
World is not only Europe and USA. Take an example of recent EU document saying we will all be able to buy *only* electric cars starting around 2030. Not only it will do nothing cause that kind of emission is nothing compared to industrial camps, but you really think China and Russia, India and others will just go along with that? Those are countries that have literally billions of citizens, big armies, huge economy, are fanatic and are nuclear forces. USA sadly lost respect, not because of USA not being capable, but because of lies of their government and people who support it. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread IV
Relax. I'm not trying to doubt your story or dates or anything. I was simply verifying that you did have a presence of a fairly normal person on this site before you disappeared. I don't really have an opinion on whether the story of your deployment is true or false and you don't necessarily need me to have an opinion on it. As far as your views on the west, Ukraine, and Russia... I personally have had extensive discussions with many people here already on pro-UA views, west vs. pro-RU views and simply do not wish to keep repeating myself every time someone "new" comes in here chiming in on topics that I've already talked about ad nauseum. It's nothing personal and I completely respect your right as a human being to feel the way you feel. I see red flags by default because I trust no one on the internet, in general. That doesn't mean I'm accusing you of a false story. I have no way of knowing if it's true or not so I won't give an opinion on it. I'm not criticizing you for immaturity either. We're all immature at some point in our lives... but you were, in general, always cordial with me and I wanted to make sure I got that across here. The "dumpster fire" section is in a part of the site that only green names have access to so it's understandable you didn't know about it. It took me less than a minute to do a search by your username and find the picture thread that was removed from the Water Cooler and moved into the "dumpster fire". If anything I was trying to verify that I do remember you previously, you did post pictures of yourself, as you said here, that are still present in the green section of the site, and that you were generally pretty friendly and normal with me the very few times we ever exchanged words. Please don't take any of what I'm saying now or in my previous post as a personal attack. I'm actually pretty indifferent on whether or not what you say is true because I don't personally have the means to verify or disprove it. No ill will intended at all and I absolutely am not trying to troll you.

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread IV
"World is not only Europe and USA." Noone has said so. "Not only it will do nothing cause that kind of emission is nothing compared to industrial camps" Of course it will do something. https://ourworldindata.org/uploads/2...pie-charts.png Gettign rid of half of the transport sector emissions is a good start. You can say this to everything and never get any progress done. "...will do nothing because that kind of emissions is nothing compared to everything else". I.e there is no point in insulating houses and installing solar roofs because emissions from home energy consumption is nothing compared to all of the emissions. The reality is that all sectors need to invest in efficiency and better technologies. As for cars, EV's are good for cities, not just because they emit no CO2, but because they reduce noise and particle pollution. It's not just CO2 that comes out of the tail pipe. Now, switching to EV's also reduces CO2 footprint from generating electricity, because it helps to solve the major obstacle of renewable energy...which is storage. EV'network would act as 1 massive distributed battery, able to store surge power from renewables. "But you really think China [....] others will just go along with that?" China is not only going along with it....its in the lead by quite a margin. A quarter of all the cars sold in China are already EV's. They are building out battery swap stations and fast charge networks that are superior to western counterparts. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread IV
Of course, but how much? I've read studies that say 2%. And to abolish our planet of 2% of toxins that means in return we will need to find shitload of lithium to power those batteries for said car. Also, it's way to early to do any of those propositions. In my opinion we should be certain t hat that kind of switch will be fully sustainable and that it won't make problem to people. For example, there will need to be a lot of batteries that will handle big trips, let's say it's winter, you need air conditioning, what about sophisticated electronics in car? Even simple stuff like light bulbs eat up that electricity. That would in effect, from this position mean I would need to do a shitload of stops to: 1. recharge my big battery 2. to postpone my trip cause I need to wait. I know nobody said it, I'm just rationally commenting on the fact that lot of people do feel that way. When I was referring to China, Russia, India, North Korea etc. - they are doing most of the emitting but not that much from their cars but from their industry. That's the sector that produces most emotions. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread IV
Whatever studies you have read are almost certainly fossil fuel lobby propaganda. Whatever pollution mining lithium causes...pumping for oil and burning coal causes hundreds of times more. The advantage of lithium mining is that its pollution is very localized. The polluted area is limited and it doesn't spread through the atmosphere, like the pollution from burning all the hydrocarbons or fracking the ground for gas. So, in short, whatever pollution caused by lithium mining...it is nothing compared to pollution related to fossil fule production. The proposition is fine... it's just a bit too extreme. The blanket ban is too harsh and it should allow exceptions for people living outside city limits. There is no real excuse not to drive EV's in a city or suburb( if the infrastructure allows for it ). Instead of a blanket ban, EU should extend subsidies and invest in EV infrastructure. If EV's are cheaper than combustion vehicles, then people will switch over voluntarily. Sure, for big trips. But the reality is that vast marjoity of people in developed countries live in cities or suburbs and average car trip is between 50 miles or so. Usually less. And...whenever people stop to shopping, or work...the car can recharge. Also, banning combustion vehicles doesn't mean that lithium battery EV's are the only other option. New battery technologies are being developed which dont use lithium and hydrogen fuel cells are getting better too. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread IV
Well that's why it's to early to truly debate on it cause they make such statements and documents way to early. It's better to be totally sure in success then go into a mist like a goose or promise people things and then it fails etc.

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread IV
Btw, the highest general in power of America said that Ukrainian deaths were +100.000 months ago. So according to our usual suspects both RaNer and the US General are lying? Really you cannot make this up. Imagine if the highest US general made an account here. Yeah you are a chat GPT Putin troll we don’t believe you LOL, zelensky NEVER lies and he said 5000 deaths at the very max so go pack to putin! |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread IV
Lol. I ain’t taking any sides at all. I’m here for the discussion. But I do see a clear side for the SU and NATO. But. Seems to me even if (RaNer) you fight for the Ukraine. As a soldier or merc. If you ain’t liked or in agreement then yep you are suddenly a troll and off you over to the the Russian side. That’s a bit fucked up. I get everyone likes to give Faust and jululib. And basically anyone that is firmly down on the Russian side Some stick. And quite rightly they are able give it back which is fab. But it starts to get a bit dangerous when you start weeding out your own side, seeing as clearly there is two sides here and segregating them. It reminds me of a tv show I’m watching. The very people meant to be protecting then started turning on each other because their views didn’t align and now they are hunting each other down. They all died . It’s interesting to sit and she actually how dangerous we as a people really are. At least the Russians seem to stick together. Right. You don’t see them telling the people arguing the same corner as they to fuck off. Yet here we are watching RaNer get called a liar and a bullshitter and a troll because he says he’s been there and that actually the Russians are doing better than what we think they are doing. Straight from the horses mouth I guess Does no one really see this? I’m not knocking anyone. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion. But it’s dangerous in the sense that you’ve all just turned on the guy because what he says, you are concerned, is bullshit. So therefore he can’t be associated with believed and so is rubbished. It’s comic and also a great example of why we are not in charge of things other than posting in a forum. Fuck scary shit man. And I ain’t even had a smoke for years, yet you lot. In particular my own. Pro western side as it were are Fucking worrying. :) :) :) Half intelligent person will know what I’m getting at and trying to say. Actually believe him. And I think without Faust and the others here that are firmly down in the Russian corner. You’re have nothing to argue about. Isn’t this te whole idea of free speech. What’s worrying is if you lot were actually armed and in charge. Lol. Fuck no. Stranger danger ;) |
