Theres another reason for it. Russian leaders often promote an environment where their lackeys are fighting each other, because it means its much less likely for them to get a knife on their back. Russian court politics have always been very cutthroat and brutal. When Russia retreats from the failed Ukraine adventure, theres going to be an oligarch power struggle and political purges for sure within Putins circle. Total dissolution of Russia is unlikely, Afghanistan embarrassment didn't dissolve the US (or Soviet Union), even when Russia retreats from Ukraine with a bloody nose, the country itself will most likely remain intact. |
