Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread III
Thank you! I completely understand what you mean... seems like a foolish thing to do sitting here watching it. However, what Roosta says (Semper Fi and the like) is closer to the truth to these guys on the battlefield. The bond between soldiers in combat is indescribable... like no other. Our instincts as observers say this was foolish, but his instincts on the battlefield speak volumes about his incredible bravery and bonds with his fellow soldiers. We see this often on both sides of this conflict. Soldiers in combat are already living with the constant possibility of death; unannounced and instant. Also with the moral conflict of taking lives repeatedly and seeing all the death and destruction going on around them. They've already sacrificed the life they had the moment they stepped out there... if there is any chance to save a "brothers" life, most of them will not hesitate unless someone else stops them or orders them not to based on the level of danger. Heat of the moment plays a big role as well... adrenaline, etc. Being in combat is constant extremes back and forth... from absolutely mundane boredom filled with constant anxiety of knowing it could change at any second into absolute chaos in the blink of an eye. You go into shock many times over, over many different things and are never really given a chance or the proper tools to recover. But I do understand your sentiment, for sure.

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread III
I’m not trying to redefine it, I’m looking at it from a different prospective. If you read my convo with WM you would know that I understand the “official” meaning of it. The fact that you still trying to show/explain me what WHATABOUTISM stand for just proves my point that you don’t understand what I’m talking about. What can I do. I’m done trying. For now |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread III
SPR, It's a great movie BUT movies aren't real & it sounds like you mistake video games as the same unrealistic BS. Wanting to keep myself active, I would have suppressed the area & laid down some covering fire while the extraction was carried out as to abandon a brother that's still alive just because he got hit is You should probably look up the word, BROTHERHOOD ! Like I said earlier, Some ppl are built dif to others. |
