Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread III

Sorry for your loss.

I understand and like i said, based on the description, like WM did. When others don't put a warning in the description members can report it so a mod can add a warning in the description when it involves kids or, when they're deceased, mods can move it to another section and hand out a warning.

It's hard not to include dead/wounded or normal adult civilians in the war thread as soldiers are civilians also and loads didn't choose to fight.

I updated the description in the war thread.
Also don't post images of dead kids in here. When the post involves, injured, children please put a child warning in your description.

On the other hand this is not youtube.
Thankyou x 2 !

[QUOTE=WonderMomma;7761328]Easy to say when you don't spend hours a day scouring Telegram and Twitter, translating, deciphering, investigating, tracking, downloading, copy pasting, uploading, trying to keep track of what media, subject, etc. goes where. I'm not criticizing you at all for this... I just think if you were one of the people posting stuff every day, you'd know we're not being lazy.

Come on, you know that I don't mean it that way WM, as you can do all the work as stated & just put it under a dif thread was all that I was suggesting.

There's a great amount of work that goes into it by ppl & WM you should know that, I for one, appreciate the effort that goes into it as I have said on many occasions, so thanks again for your efforts as always.

Kelly has made the change with the listing guidelines, so for that I say thankyou !

[QUOTE=Eggs&Spam;7761671]Who's going to rebuild it.

An answer to your "Who's going to rebuild it" question.

Russia is going to pay for it through sanctions until they do & the money, assets ect frozen by NATO is going to help, the several $300mil + Super yachts & Putin's oligarch's mates who have, or should I say had, billions will get put back into Uk to rebuild what they have "WILLINGLY" invaded & as such NATO will be there for some time yet making sure that they do & this will take a long time as the current state of Uk is dismal to say the least, whole towns now just rubble & ash with live ordinance all over the place, It will take a very long time to rebuild Uk but try telling a Uk that they will never do it !

P.S Love the punchline below your post, kinda ironic ha !

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread III

Those fascists literally got him into power with the help of Western sponsorship. If you knew anything about the history of Ukraine, you'll realize such a thing is not only possible but probable. And thank you for proving my point that this is \\yet another\\ spending spree by industrialists and bad faith politicians who should know better. You say the place is destroyed. Who's going to rebuild it and continue arming it up and keeping the war going? The only people who suffer are the Ukrainians. I'm young but old enough to have seen this movie too many times over the past 20 years to know this is a shitty situation that didn't need to be escalated by both the West (primarily the US) and Russia.

He's no different than those dictators if we're talking about Western nations sponsoring them, then discarding them once they outlive their usefulness. There's been many examples of this over the last couple of decades, and you're a chump if you believe this is going to be any different. Based on what I've seen, I wouldn't say dissolving your political opposition and shutting down news publications are great examples of democracy in a country that's been castigated as Russia-lite for many years until the invasion happened. But I am told the Zelensky government is a pillar of democracy. He even got his face on the cover of Time magazine (as they did Hitler, they seem keen on fascists--real ones Jon Stewart gives awards to at Disneyworld

There's a saying: don't piss on my back and tell me it's raining, because it's just piss.

And why are Ukrainians suffering? Russia. And if Russia has their way, Ukrainians; the country, people, and language will no longer exist. They're wanting Ukrainians to become Russian, believe as they believe, live as they want them to live and turn their backs on their very existence or they face death or exile. Unacceptable on every level.

Who's going to rebuild it? It's likely going to be a joint effort, as allies often do for other allies. But if there's any justice in this fucked up world... the Russian government will be made to pay for a great portion of what they've done in Ukraine, in more ways that one. Criminally, civilly, structurally, morally, and in the interests of all of the human lives they've destroyed, including those of their very own citizens. But this is a topic for discussion after they withdrawal their forces and end their invasion and the chips start falling. In the mean time... what would you have one's allies do? Sit by and observe? Send troops in to fight Russia directly? Neither is a logical choice at present as the former is cruel and the latter is likely to legitimately start World War III.

But the world isn't just going to sit around and allow a powerful nation to recklessly encroach on their neighbors territory and decimate an entire group of people and take it as their own. Especially for the hypocritical reasons they claim. Their reasons of Nazism, their views on LGBTQ communities, and religion are merely guises to grab up bountiful resources and power for themselves. These issues are all issues Russia has and refuses to acknowledge from within.

Putin was on the cover of Time magazine too. As were Gorbachev, Khrushchev, Stalin, Merkel, Xiaoping, deGaulle, Giuliani, Churchill, Sadat, Mosaddegh, Khomeini, Arafat, Trump, Gandhi, and Queen Elizabeth. So what? It seems they are keen on whoever has had the biggest impact on the world in a particular time… good or bad. So, the magazine cover argument holds no water.

I don’t give much merit into anything celebrities are doing… they are all somebody’s puppet, for the most part, or are behaving a certain way out of ulterior motives or self-interest (as do politicians). For the most part.

And the only way Zelenskyy remotely compares to Hussein and Gadaffi is the position he holds. And I don't care what anyone says... I have never seen another president in my lifetime behave the way he does during war time. He stays in country, visits the front lines regularly, and communicates with his people and the world on a daily basis... sometimes multiple times a day. Most other leaders of a nation being invaded go into hiding or leave the country all together. He’s not hiding in a cave, held up in a secret bunker, making fake videos with actors and his image superimposed on someone else, nor sending out doubles to make public appearances. I'm not saying he is special because of it... but he is definitely different. In my 50 years on this planet, I have personally never seen anything like it. However, he is a politician and that is where he loses any “brownie points” with me automatically.

Yes... yes... another conversation of how the west, particularly the US, has its hand in yet another war. No one here is denying that, least of all me. But did the west convince Putin to invade Ukraine? No. Should we just stand idly by and allow one of our allies to get overtaken and destroyed, likely completely? No. Does the west, particularly the US, have a vested interest in the outcome of this dispute? Hell yes and for good reason. It's Russia, after all. It's not like there's no history there between us.

The US being involved in a war involving Russia seems like a natural progression regardless of how anyone feels about it. I grew up in the 70's, 80's during the cold war when Russia nuking the US was a distinct possibility. I was 18 years old in 1991 when the Soviet Union dissolved and because of who my step father was at the time, was directly entrenched in Gorbachev coming to the United States in June of that year. I've been aware of the situation YOUR entire life and before; politics and world events were a daily discussion in my household for most of my life.

Some of us are in the position to be completely conscious and aware of what governments are doing, and capable of... some of us have even sacrificed for what we thought was the interests of the people of our country only to find out it was a far more complicated than that. I don't care what country you live in... war is ALWAYS about things above and beyond the citizens which reside there yet preached to us as if that's all it's about. Some of us are trying to navigate our way through all of that while being essentially powerless to change it.

Be careful throwing out the words "if you knew about Ukraine" to people you do not know. For all the reasons I just explained, some of us have natural interests in Ukraine because of Russia being involved. Some of us even have direct ethnic and ancestral ties to what is going on as well.

Accusing one of not knowing anything about Ukraine or anything else, when you know nothing of them is just... irresponsible, to put it nicely.

It boils down to different perspectives due to living different lives and making different choices and this is what many people fail to consider when talking about hot topics and expressing their views. You have yours, I have mine and they were obviously both evolved on different sides of the fence. I've thoroughly researched both sides of that fence and I have lived through it as well. My experience and instincts are my guide along with my obsessive need to be informed on all sides of every coin I encounter.

There is the lesser of two evils and it's up to everyone to decide, for themselves, which makes sense to them or just remain ignorant of it all together which is also a choice. Just remember that neither of our perspectives are exactly right, or exactly wrong... as it’s far too complicated to apply right and wrong. There are too many variables in all of this. I'm rather indifferent to your choice, or anyone else's for that reason alone. It’s too fucking complicated.

In the search for knowledge on all sides... I will have a civil, rational discussion with anyone who gives the same respect in return. But those conversations are nearly extinct and hard to find about this and any other controversial subject. When people start throwing around personal insults is when I will lose respect, regard, and interest anyone’s differing opinion. There's nothing to be gained when it gets to that point.

I try to see everyone on a human level first, before I base opinions on what labels may apply to them. Russian, American, black, gay, white, nazi, hippie, lunatic, democrat, republican, et al. The only exception to this for me personally are child molesters/abusers and people who torture/mistreat animals.

A motto I have developed over time that has proved to be the most challenging for me to live by... but serves well when I do; Don't live in the past or try to foresee the future because the only thing one can have an affect on is the present. I can only use my experience and knowledge to make instinctual, intelligent assessments about what's happening now. I always know there are probabilities of an outcome but despite how keenly empathic I am, I cannot see into the future nor can anyone else. Yes, history has a habit of repeating itself... but not always. I forever sit with crossed fingers in hopes that it doesn't. But neither you, nor I know what’s going to happen and it’s a waste of time and energy to think we do, let alone debate it.

The people who are banned from this thread/section are all people who can't follow simple rules. Period. They were not banned because they hold different views.

All of us have received warnings about following the rules. All of us who are active here. Some of us are just better at following them and that has nothing to do with being pro-Ukrainian or pro-Russian.

I know you don't mean it that way... it's just hard to keep up with what we already have. It's all good and I'm glad we've worked out a way to accommodate all.

I also want to apologize for not conveying my sympathy for the loss of your son. Unfortunately, I can relate and it's the absolutely worst thing one can endure. Even 26 years later I find it near impossible to fathom let alone talk about.

You definitely get a virtual hug from me.

Give me an example of a pro-Rus user that was banned for merely an opinion. That hasn't happened. But they do have a chronic tendency to resort to trolling and insults at the drop of a hat, this is why those 3-4 users got banned.

I can understand why I think, their side is losing and they're frustrated. So they vent it here on DR anonymously on the internet so they don't get dragged on the street in real life. They trade their logic for a rebel badge and it's not working out for them. Good.

Duntez and Byla's daughter are the only pro-russians here who even make sense sometimes, not saying the pro-russian argument makes sense but at least they can express themselves.

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread III

Putin flew to Belarus today for the first time in 3 years. There is plenty of footage floating around of various stages of it all, but I'm not posting it all. Just thought this clip was interesting.
