This claim of "hate towards Russia" or "russofobia" must be so drilled into Russians that it has become a blanket defense against any criticism of their authority. Russia might nuke and kill millions of innocent civilians and you would still say that criticizing Russia would be "Russophobia"

I have talked to a lot of religious fundamentalists online and I recognize a similar level of fundamentalism here.

I don't hate Russia or Russians. I just recognize reality. Russia is ruled by corrupt dictators and it's one giant kleptocracy. Countries that have turned away from Russian kleptocracy have started to improve their economies almost immediately.

Ukraine is poor because of Russian influence...because that's the reality. It was ruled by kleptocrats and it served Moscow...just like Russian oblasts away from Moscow. The funny videos online showing Russian soldiers digging a hole in the middle of the apartment to take a shit because they don't recognize a flush-toilet show how poor Russia is when you look away from Moscow. I am 100% confident that all Russian territories would be better off if they were independent and didn't serve Moscow.

The size of the country doesn't really matter that much. If 1 million people can build a fair and prospering economy then another million elsewhere can do the same. You just replicate what the first million people did everywhere.

In Russia, if you don't live in Moscow or the European part of Russia...then you can go fuck yourself. Your dictator doesn't give a shit about you in that case. Most mobilized cannon fodder also comes from the poorer part of Russia.

I just don’t understand people who blame Russia for everything. Is it western propaganda that sits down deep inside people like you and eating up from inside ? Why is it always Russia this Russia that. Also what’s more interesting with western people like you that every time I ask a simple question why? This or that…. Railroads or roads was just a little example… vast territories, distance between the factories and supply companies are matters. Price per mile is different and so on, compare to the packed and populated EU.

It was such a rare event that I remember it.

Have you ever heard of the phrase "Putin's war"? It's said over and over in media. This is how the war is perceived in the west. It's not Russias war. Its Putin's war. When the west criticizes Russia, it criticizes its government.
Now, you cant say the same thing about Russia though.

If you look at the western media, then you see people who want to help Ukraine defend itself...people who want to contain the war within Ukraine's borders and end it as soon as possible. The west has been against striking targets in Russia since the beginning of the invasion.
Now, look at Russian state media and spot the difference.
The state media is pushing for war against the entire western population, not just its government. You can hear statements like "let the western people freeze to death in winter" and "we should use nukes" and even "nuking the western cities".
