Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread II

Yes I did. I remember seeing the details and reading the story and being horrified. But then I remembered the video of them showing the "torture" chambers and it didn't ring the same bell like the others. I'm on the skeptical side too because they only found 2 bodies in that area that showed signs of torture. Both were bound.. one had been shot in the junk and thr chest. The other was shot too but I can't remember where.

As odd as I find it that someone keeps a bucket or 2 of teeth around... I also think it's the more plausible explanation.

The torture site they showed looked like a detention or holding area. But not mass torture like the pictures were portrayed as. They're still dicks, but I think the article is probably correct. Thankfully
Thanks for your elaboration. I would never claim that the Russians (or any invading force) don’t rape or torture people, but to me it felt fishy as well, the teeth stuff I mean.

I am wondering why German press is allowed to write about it though, maybe they are pissed about their gas supply being destroyed?
No retractions from other media as far I can see. RT.com actually wrote and article with the German newspaper as the source lol. But yeah, good for looking into the facts

Interesting perspective of a former RT America anchor who years ago quit on the air. Basically, RT has zero journalistic honesty and they sow viewer confusion with manufactured conspiracies to deflect and promote the Kremlin's agenda. And of course, bash the west at every opportunity and lie big when things don't work out.

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread II

I am willing to give you nuking Japan in August 1945. The consequences of Nuclear Weapons were not entirely clear at that point in time and is an example of how NOT to use them. Do I think we should apologize for it? No...because I "believe" that the intentions were good in their usage.

Fast forward 78 years...today we all know the consequences of nuclear weapons and know that they should never be used in combat. Anyone...including the United States or any western country would be equally guilty of the highest crimes against humanity possible if used today.

No military is innocent however...I would argue to the point that was being discussed here that western militaries are more LIKELY to not intentionally bomb civilian targets because of the amount of scrutiny our leadership is under. If the Taliban used a mosque as a base to initiate force or store weapons...you best believe that the evidence must be beyond reasonable doubt...because you know Al Jazera...RT...even CNN will be the first people posting about it and how horrible it was and it how it will be used as fuel to further the cause of terrorism against the United States.

I do have one problem, though, with your reference to the one soldier that was involved in "Black Hawk Down" that raped his daughter...That was something that happened well after this battle and happened at home...Also, his ex-wife wasn't against the movie...just him being portrayed in the movie. The actions of one man acting on his own accord and not on orders of his superiors are different than raping and murdering civilians on orders of your politicians/generals.
"There were certainly physicists at Los Alamos who understood that the first atomic bombs would produce significant amounts of radiation, and were likely to cause both radiation sickness and nuclear fallout effects." Oppenheimer never really paid too much attention to the reports about radiation effects, and spoke almost exclusively of the bomb in terms of heat and blast effects. Bottom line is people knew about it, but not the ones who made that call to drop it. Government kept silence after "trinity" test explosion, in fear of huge insurance claims. And maybe another reason was if people knew about radiation effects, maybe public reaction would force to close down the project.

Japan defacto lost at that time already, especially with her remaining army being eliminated by Soviets and Chinese. Invasion of the main islands maybe would never happen because there was no reason for it IMO. I think they would give up fairly quick anyway.
Do you consider things like "show off your weapon for soviets to see" and "finish Japan before soviets"?

You see, the main problem here is that you really do believe that Russians are executing civilians for no reason what so ever and I don't. Bucha, Izum all kinda of crazy atrocities Kyiv is talking about IMO are BS. Im not going to say it never happened, things like rape or executions, because I know there are crazy people out there, but to say the whole RF army is an Army of civilian butchers who does it for fun or because of hate or direct order is just crazy.

A little match up Rus now and US/NATO in Yugoslavia.
Russia using precise rockets to hit targets, US/NATO did too ...Russia misses sometimes, US/NATO did too... Russia used cluster munitions, US/NATO did too, Russia used strategic bombers, US/NATO did too.. Civilian columns were hit by both sides too, Russia claims they try to minimize civilian death, US/NATO said that too...Russia claims that Ukrs using civilians as a shield, US/NATO said that too. Now you trust Ukrs about what Russias doing to civilians and I trust Serbia about what US/NATO did there. Now you can say well, after horrible accidents when people died because of cluster bombs US stopped using them...yeah, but England didn't according to human watch.
Bottom line is I lived there and im living here now. And I can tell you there is no difference between us as people.

About Stebbins, I agree, bad example.

Duntez is like a chinese finger trap, the more sense you make the more he resists. He will have to come to the light on his own. Faust just want's attention, he's like the pennywise of the forum.
