Point in case: The M16A1 (a garbage American Vietnam era weapon) versus the Chinese made Type 56 which was a copy of the Russian AKM, which was an improvement of the original AK-47. The Type 56 was a vastly superior weapon.

Soviet SVD's are incredibly valued here in the US because of their cold war era historic value. Very unique looking and "evil". The prices they sell for on Gunbroker.com are insane.

Ahh I’m not a weapon enthusiast, hard to keep up. For all I know, I remember growing up as a kid me and my friends were so proud of our Soviet weapons and ofcause all famous SVD. But we were kids and critical thinking was on a scale from 0 to “yeah right” we never thought about weapon comparison

Haha yup. SVD's are still good weapons. Not great optics but the gun won't shit the bed. Nazi's in WW2 Russia would pick up Russian Ppsh-41 and 43's and keep them over their German Mp-40's and Kar-98's. Americans would keep Chinese and Russian AKM's, because they "didn't jam". Today is very different but that's the way it was back then.
