Russian Invasion Ukraine Day 57/58 (April 22th and 23th)
Six people died and 27 more sustained injuries after a fire broke at a defense research facility in the northwestern Russian city of Tver on Thursday, authorities of the Tver regions said. The fire erupted in an administrative building of the Aerospace Defense Forces’ Central Research Institute, which operates under the Russian Defense Ministry. It quickly engulfed the building’s upper three floors, forcing those inside to jump from windows and causing the roof to cave in. Regional military prosecutors are investigating the cause of the blaze. The state-run news agency Tass said early findings pointed to aging wiring as a contributing factor. "Iskander" and "S-400" missile systems were designed here. According to the website of the Russian Defense Ministry, the institute focuses on research related to air and space defense, including the development of new anti-aircraft systems. The Central Research Institute of the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces in Tver saw another fire three years ago due to short circuit, an emergency services source told TASS on Thursday following a major fire at the research institute on Thursday. "On March 6, 2019, a short circuited lamp in a cabinet on the second floor of the Central Research Institute caused a fire. It was quickly put out," the source said. At 11am Moscow time on Thursday, a blaze erupted at the research center in Tver. It engulfed an area of 2,500 square meters, spreading to almost all floors. The roof partially collapsed. High temperatures, old floors of the building and heavy smoke complicated work to put out the fire. The open fire has been extinguished by now. Six people were killed and 27 sustained injuries in the blaze. According to preliminary reports, a short circuit failure was the cause behind the reported incident. |

Amazing, these "accidental" fires erupting. Murphy's law himself is presenting more often than normal. "Aging wiring" |
