There were reports from Ukrainian sources that this Iris system was a "mock up" = or decoy. But I did some further digging and found the following information. Also from a Ukrainian source. Apparently it was real but Russia claims there were no missiles loaded, hence why there wasn't a detonation when the drone hit.

"Based on the supplementary material (don't ask where I got them from) , everything points to the fact that today's IRIS-T SLM was not a mock-up , however, damage from a Lancet hit is minor in any case"

You can't really judge anything about the amount of fighting going on based on the numbers being reported.

A. They're not 100% reliable.
B. As SDI said, the smaller number of casualties maybe smaller just because it's smaller scale skirmishes going on. They've got other things they're doing as well.
C. They're concentrating on weakening Russia right now, it seems.

Look at the amount of artillery/mlrs they claim destroyed since a month before the counteroffense started, it speaks volumes as to what they're actually doing. We were actually discussing that actively here in the forum before they started the CO.

There has also been a huge spike in the amount of crucial military targets that Ukraine has hit including ammunition depots, bases and logistical targets such as bridges and railways.

We can only surmise what's going on, as I've said many times, twice already today, we're not on the ground. We are not a part of the government of any country involved so we can't possibly know the strategies playing out. But based on what I'm seeing in the last two months... Ukraine is taking it slow and steady while hitting targets that will cripple the Russians in fighting back.

Zelenskyy, and others have said that they are not rushing things as to keep their own losses at a minimum. But maybe another reason the Russian losses are lower is because many groups are retreating and running from positions back to the main line of defense.

Normally would put this in the briefing thread but was just talking about this the other day in the other media thread.

The Russian tank crew that faced two tanks and five armored vehicles in a single battle.
Two of them are mobilized (the tank commander and the gunner) and contracted driver. They got some awards and this flag (which they have to share probably)

Full disclosure: in the infamous video I don’t believe they engage all targets; they have artillery support which scores a few direct hits. If anything this video showed the drone operators (who were in awe) were pretty disorganised. My take is that the tank went in knowing friendly artillery would protect it and destroy a few of them or scare them away. The fact that the drone operators don’t appear know this (and think the tank is going Rambo) potentially shows some level of disorganisation. But the drone comments were still great.
