Nothing gory, but something for miltech geeks.

Found this today in the news: A press crew, a french and a german MP (member of parliament) visiting a L2A6 unit at an undisclosed location near the front lines. Its a rather lenthty report, but I cut the most interesting part out: Documentation of a russian ATGM (anti-tank guided missile) hit into the turret side armor. Tanker Andrej removes the two outer applique armor panels and demonstrates with a inserted branch how deep the HEAT jet penetrated into the composite block behind the outer steel layer. Its said that the crew wasn't harmed and only minor damage on the tank itself. They also say they would be dead, if this would have been a T-tank.

Comm is discussing this and most guess its a Kornet hit (not sure, imho looks like the shot was coming from an elevated position (heli?), judging the orientation of the damage/HEAT jet).

According to STATS KA52 “vihr” (1000mm after ERA) and esp “Kornet” (1300mm after ERA )would penetrate that. Maybe smaller type of ATGM? RPG7 for example
