Re: Russian Invasion Ukraine. Day: 1439-1448 (Feb 1 - Feb 10)
An explosion and fire occurred in "several wagons of a freight train carrying fuel" at the Kochetovka-2 station in Michurinsk, Tambov Oblast, on the afternoon of February 4, the Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor's Office reported. According to Ukraine, the cause of the incident was a drone attack. Eyewitness footage shows a huge fireball and plume of smoke rising from the explosion site. According to other channels, the train's driver was injured, suffering multiple burns while attempting to extinguish the fire himself. He was taken to the hospital. Another source reported that five gasoline tankers exploded and caught fire after a freight train derailed. Russian Railways confirmed the train derailment, stating that the incident occurred at 3:34 PM Moscow time. The Investigative Committee announced that a criminal case has been opened for violating rail safety regulations resulting in major damage (Part 1, Article 263 of the Russian Criminal Code). The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations told TASS that 47 firefighters and 20 pieces of equipment have been deployed to respond to the incident. The prosecutor's office is investigating the cause of the incident. |

Re: Russian Invasion Ukraine. Day: 1439-1448 (Feb 1 - Feb 10)
Estimates from late 2025 suggest at least 49,000 to 70,000 russian soldiers have deserted or gone AWOL since the invasion began due to low morale. Unlike earlier in the war, an increasing number of russian desertions are now occurring directly from the battlefield rather than from rear bases or hospitals. Intolerable service conditions, systemic hazing, lack of supplies and the widespread use of meat assaults with low survival chances are the primary cause. Around 110 suicide cases are caught on cam since the start of the war but the number of suicides is believed around 150 last year. Common methods are the use of Rifles or grenades, often on the frontline. The Ukraine's Defense Minister reported approx. 200,000 soldiers listed as AWOL. Since 2022, over 310,000 criminal cases for AWOL or desertion had been opened, with more than half occurring in 2025 alone. Reports suggest as many as 20,000 service members may desert or go absent every month. 50% of Ukrainian service members feel they need urgent psychological support. The invisible wounds of the war are cited as a primary factor in self-harm/suicide incidents occurring during leave or after being discharged. Often due to combat exhaustion or lack of rotation (fight/rest). In other words it's hell and if the war ends both countries face enormous challenges when it comes to help for veterans with mental problems just like after every war. |
