Re: Russia/Ukraine War Mobilization, Protests & Sabotage Media III

Maybe, but, unless there was some 4D chess being played by an allied Prigozhin and Lukaschenko, then the deal that was effected essentially proved that Putin had the leverage.

Prigozhin was a hero in Russia and commanded an army that put him somewhere in the high-single/low-double digits of global military rankings. He had to give up that army and leave Russia. Even an unimaginable pile of money, or something else that could be transferred off the global media’s radar, isn’t worth a damn when you were forced to disarm yourself and put yourself in the fiefdom of one of Putin’s greatest cronies.

Prigozhin would end up a very rich, very dead man.

I suspect he miscalculated, and had expected some key support from within the oligarchy, and was counting on it developing in the time it took him to get from Rostov to Moscow. Only, that support never materialized or went the other way. Prigozhin got a few phone calls that didn’t go the way he expected, and bailed.

No doubt that this whole thing made Putin look weak, but it made Prigozhin look even weaker.

I thought about support too, but not oligarch rather some generals maybe. His all time favorite Surovikin ( Prigozhin said he would be a great sub to Gerasimov) - asked him to stop. There was another one he was referring to in one of his interviews forgot his name, but he saw him as Minister of Defence instead of Shoigu, maybe he stepped back too

In Odessa General-major of SBU Victor Mikulin got beat up by members of counterintelligence of UA
Maybe just a regular “drunk” thing or maybe something more.

That’s a fair point, but I was including general officers under the catalog of “oligarchy”.

In a country like the USSR/Russia (which, let’s be honest, they’re exactly the same thing- differing only in how many slave states they currently own), one doesn’t become a general officer unless and until he holds some stock in the nation-plantation and, once he’s become a general officer, he continues to accrue that stock until the king the dictator falls him out a window, at which point his stock is scooped up by the other oligarchs and perhaps another new one or two entering the ranks.

Don’t know if this is real or fake, but it was allowed to be aired on US state television. Does anybody have the entire episode?

Re: Russia/Ukraine War Mobilization, Protests & Sabotage Media III

I think it will be some time before we know exactly why and how this coup faint happened, if ever, but we will find out, for sure and without question, one of two things in the next 48-72 hours:

If, 72 hours from now, Prigozhin is still alive, then we KNOW that Putin is a vulnerable, impotent little man with no hope of maintaining control over his personal property, the USSR “Russia”.

If Prigozhin is dead within the next 72 hours, then we know he was an orc-brained moron.

One in Putin’s position does not get to face off against threat of a violent coup, labeling the rebel a treasonous criminal, and then let that rebel live. It’s just not done. If he doesn’t fall Prigozhin out a window, toot-sweet, then Putin has been effectively emasculated and his days on the Soviet throne are numbered.
They will eliminate him eventually, but I suspect it won't be immediate. They still need him. First, they will likely suppress his supporters in Russia, and then they have to deal with the Wagner Group in Africa. They will probably force them to join the Russian army.
Once Prigozhin feels safe, some accident will befall him, or they will want to convict him and imprison him. It depends on what is advantageous for Putin.
Putin definitely still maintains control over Russia and the Russians.
