Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread
For Russian propaganda term “War” is not gonna work. People see in “war” and SMO two different things. I feel like if Putin would have said “we declare a war against Ukraine” he would get less support. But SMO term play along with their narrative on TV. Such as “we are saving you from NAZIs”

Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread
No, sorry but you don't. The moment your government violently stopped demonstrations of Opposition Parties and called them terrorists, you no longer had freedom of speech. If your political Opposition members have to escape outside Russia, then obviously there is no freedom of speech in your country. 2nd, the ban on homosexuals on media, the first time EU sanctioned Russia severely, way before Ukraine war. 3rd, critics of Putin mysteriously keep falling off balconies and getting radioactive isotopes in their morning coffees. 4th, now Russia just approved a law where serious criticism of government actions during wars can land you 15 years in prison. There is no freedom of speech in Russia, similar to China. If you claim otherwise, either you do not know what the term actually means, or you are just straight up lying. |

Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread
1. Who from opposition ran away and been chased down by government? Which demonstrations were stopped more violently the “yellow jackets” in France for instance? Or all famous “Occupy wall street” 2. Homosexuals is just a bad example. You have to look at the culture in general. If It didn’t get ban I’m pretty sure Russia would have another demonstration against it. There is no need for this propaganda on TV or in schools. 3. A lot of people have died during 90s and 00s. For the most part I think of it as political games for power. Only Litvinenko case looks legit to me, but even then, I always look what he was killed for. Ex KGB who after retirement trashed agency and said that buildings in Russia were blown up by FSB in order to get peoples support to invade Chechnya for the second time. ( kind of like towers in NY and Iraq invasion). Well damn, they were actually airing that on TV long time before him. So idk, weak reason to get killed. 4. Russia did, so did Ukraine. It’s a war between two identical countries ( peoplewise) this war is a war for minds of people and not for some oil on another half of the planet. That’s why Zelenskiy closed 4 TV opposition channels ( before invasion), that’s why he closed over 10 political parties ( BTW he did it against constitution) Russia did too ( didn’t touch political parties). I personally don’t support it and for the most part would agree with you, but how would I act if I was in their shoes idk. When I said free speech I meant regular citizens and not some big political games. US was on a hunt for citizen of Australia even, why? What’s going on with project Veritas?.. |

Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread
Dude. Even though Ukraine certainly has banned some questionable things that doesn't mean Russia's citizens have freedom of speech. They very, very, clearly, do not. And now you're changing the subject, deflecting and making counter accusations as if that somehow means something. Just stop and be honest with yourself
