Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread

Whiskey, I just stumbled on a Ukrainian site that gives a daily report on what's happened in the last 24 hours. You may have already seen it, but in that case, just disregard. It's called "Update from Ukraine"
by Denis Davydov. He gives an excellent discussion on the bridge situation, including the fact that the Russians are down to a SINGLE bridge to Crimea. The Russians have also removed their ship fleets to a different harbor that is a long way from Crimea. He also covers the Russian attempts to repair or bypass the bridges. He shows ferrys that are being used to transport Russian equipment, and the Russians are including civilian vehicles on the ferrys to keep them from being attacked. They also are using dredging barges as part of their floating bridge campaign, building the roads on top of the barges. He shows the recce photos of the Russian armored units snuggled up to the nuclear reactors, supposedly so they can avoid being hit by Ukrainian forces. He also talks about how the Ukrainians have good equipment now, but not enough of it, where the Russians have a lot of equipment left, but it is all poor quality, and that neither side has the logistics to push the other side out. He also reports on a Russian attack on a train station, and shows video of the burnt out train cars. The last thing he mentions is that they have now been supplied with some German tracked anti-aircraft systems, which the Germans did not want to supply them with before, but now they have some. They showed a video of the AA unit in action, and the AA guns whip around like a snake's head. He also talks about the Ukrainians getting both F-16s and A-10's. I will have to talk to my neighbor about the A-10s and see what he knows, if he can discuss anything about it. I know that a few months ago, they took an entire squadron of A-10'S to Nellis after getting them battle ready, then left the aircraft up there and came back to start work on doing the same with another squadron of them. I don't know if that is connected or not.
He also said that British military intelligence confirmed Russian losses at 80,000 men, which is what the WSJ reported a couple of weeks ago.
Anywho.

A-10's - Ukranians are actively training on simulators. I didn't post that video, I will try and find it

German anti-air - Yeah the Gepard? It's like a European ZSU 23mm Shilka. But 35mm and double barrel instead of quad

I'm actually watching Davydov right now He's good and he watches the DeepState map which seems to be accurate.

80k losses for Russia - WSJ has a good track record for accuracy. But I don't know... if true that's completely insane. That per day rate is far worse than US/British casualties in WW2. If I'm not mistaken

That's 22,000 more people than the US lost in 9 years of fighting in Vietnam

We're not going to know for a long time if that is the case or not. Regardless, Russia is struggling, they can't seem to attack like earlier and take meaningful chunks of ground on short time. I think they impaled themselves on Severodonyetsk. Ukraine has great weapons now but not enough of them to really press an attack

Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread

Also a10 have only ever been used on completely bombed out third world countries where there were no more (portable) anti air defences, only to clean up some remaining tanks.
It is nothing more than that.
10 anti tank missiles are much more effective and cheaper than an a10 so no reason at all to use it.
Maybe they were playing a video game and people got confused?
