I thought I’d ask it here with all the military people: Can artillery fire actually be intercepted? Like with a flak canon or maybe phalanx-like anti-missile systems? I don’t mean like in call of duty but rather IRL |

Yes, to a degree. In Afghanistan the British took redundant phalanx from retired type 42 destroyers to provide cover from indirect fire in their bases. I believe it was successful.

Yes, it can. Problem is, these systems are very advanced and hence extremely expensive. I have not seen any of these systems in Ukraine in use on either side. It's hard enough targeting drones at distance, imagine hitting something that size, which is travelling extremely fast and you have virtually no time to engage. The US however did give Ukraine some AN/TPQ-36's which can track incoming artillery and MLRS and hand off the location info to friendly artillery units for counter battery operations.
