Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread

I do apologize duntez, I can get a little opinionated. I hope you and your family had a good time wakeboarding. Never done that, yet.

Americans born on opposite sides - funny thing about my family. My mom of course is Latvian/Russian but she does have some old American roots. She's related to the Confederate General Stonewall Jackson, who commanded a civil war battle in which two of my Dad's union ancestors (Swiss German Americans) were wounded but survived. Pretty wild stuff when I found that out.
So you are part Squarehead! We need to bring that back into usage

Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread

I think the Russian military model is based on getting people who dont really want to fight to get at angry at their comrades senseless deaths and go fight. They need the initial slaughter to wake the bear up.
Ukraine as well, they need to shoot a little at civilians around 2014-2022 before they really want to fight

Srebrenica Massacre
Look up the judgement yourself
"297. The Court concludes that the acts committed at Srebrenica falling
within Article II (a) and (b) of the Convention were committed with the
specific intent to destroy in part the group of the Muslims of Bosnia and
Herzegovina as such; and accordingly that these were acts of genocide,
committed by members of the VRS in and around Srebrenica from about
13 July 1995."

Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread

Also for the US wars; for every dead US soldier, about a 1000 civilians were killed.

Compare that to Ukraine
You are great at comparing apples and oranges in your whataboutism. First colonization of America, then Vietnam to this war happening in 2022.

FYI: A few 100 years ago they used to burn "witches" at the stake in Europe. AFAIK Russia haven't burned anyone at the stake yet, so I guess that's another proof of their moral superiority over the West.

I guess the only point in history we cannot use when discussing Russia vs the West is 1930-45. The time when the people in Kremlin killed more people than their ally Hitler.

Americans that were born on an opposite historical sides. We could be friends, but politics ruined everything

Meanwhile in one of the Italian libraries and following collage

A Russian cartoon from 2012 where a Russian Popadanets gets into Adolf Hitler' body to destroy the UK. One of many similar ones. Russia is still sad that their friend Hitler betrayed them.

He's a pro at whataboutism. You mention anything that paints Russia/USSR in a negative light he brings up shit that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand. It's really quite funny.

Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread

Yo Faust, do you think this rate of loss is sustainable? For comparison, US lost around 16 servicemen per day on Vietnam.

And this Russian death estimate of 18,000 is on the conservative side.

For every 50 dead Russian soldiers, 1 Ukrainian civilian is killed.

For every single dead American soldier 50 Vietnamese / 73 Iraqi / 32 Afghan civilians are killed.
This does not include children

What does that have to do with anything here, even if that is true? Avoiding things as usual
