Remains of Missing Red Army Soldiers Found in Primorye

Remains of missing Red Army soldiers found in Primorye

In one day, activists of the AviaPoisk search association found the remains of two missing Red Army soldiers near Lake Khasan in Primorye. The first soldier was killed just before the very top of the Machine-Gun Hill, the second Red Army soldier was killed by an explosion or shot in the head. This was reported to "Primorskaya Gazeta" in the press service of "AviaPoisk".

At present, search work continues at the sites of the 1938 battles near Lake Khasan. Primorsky search engines are carefully examining the approaches to the top of the Machine-Gun Hill, which in the initial period of the Khasan battle was stormed by the 40th Infantry Division of the 39th Red Army SK. From archival documents it is known that in this area 11 people were missing only from the 119th Infantry Regiment, which suffered the most heavy losses during the assault. And the 118th and 120th regiments of the division also fought here.

Luck turned to the search engines right after the installation of a memorial sign at the place of the death of the Red Army soldier Stepan Belov, whom AviaPoisk raised back in 2012. AviaPoisk fighters Ivan Smolenkov, Pyotr Dobriden and Vladimir Yakhno one by one found cells with Soviet soldiers lying in them.

The first warrior was killed just before the top of the Machine Gun Hill, remaining in his rifle cell for 81 years. He had pouches with cartridges, three Rdultovsky grenades, a gas mask, a helmet, a flask pierced by a bullet. He lay on his side, legs bent at the knees. Two trees rose above his body, which caused a lot of difficulties for the search engines when lifting the fighter. No personal items were found.

The second Red Army soldier was killed by an explosion or hit in the head. Half of his face was missing, his helmet and the vault of his skull cracked from the blast wave. The lower limbs were kept separate from the body. With the soldier lay a large number of cartridges in a paper wrapper and one Rdultovsky grenade. The warrior's ascent will continue the next day at dawn.

When the search day came to an end, a ringing silence fell on the lake and it began to snow. It's a sign. A sign that the defenders of the Fatherland have waited for their day, when they can return from the battle and find peace.
