After being deployed to the 530GP, Reconnaissance Company, 81st Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division, Republic of Korea Army, located in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do on May 11, 2005, Private Kim Dong-min (born August 14, 1984, 20 years old at the time) lost his motivation for life and had difficulty adapting to the unit. Around June 13, 2005, he began to think about escaping from the 530GP and returning home, and think had no choice but to kill everyone, so he decided commit massacre. On June 19, 2005, Private Kim threw a grenade into the interior room and fired a submachine gun at the 530GP, killing eight people. Private Kim Dong-min was sentenced to death after a three-year trial and is currently imprisoned in a military prison. At approximately 2:30 a.m. on June 19, 2005, Private Kim Dong-min was on guard duty and entered the barracks' interior room as his shift time approached. Private Kim decided to kill all the unit members and threw a grenade into the bedroom. The grenade exploded in the stomach of Corporal Park, who was sleeping face down, and he died on the spot. Private Kim, who was leaving the bedroom after throwing a grenade, encountered Lieutenant Kim Jong-myeong, the GP leader, in the fitness room. and shot and killed Lieutenant Kim. At this time, the bullet fired by Private Kim destroyed the distribution board, causing a power outage in the situation room and hallway. Afterwards, Private Kim, who was roaming the hallways of the GP, shot and killed corporals Lee Tae-ryun and Lee Geon-wook, then returned to the bedroom and opened fire, killing corporals Jeon Yeong-cheol, Jo Jung-woong, Cha Yu-cheol, and Kim In-chang. Private Kim went back to the guard post and pretended to be calm and on duty. However, the deputy commander was found to be the culprit when he summoned the workers and checked the number of bullets one by one. After the trial, Private Kim lived a reclusive life, not leaving his room for five years. He did not communicate at all with guards or inmates, did not engage in religious activities, and ate alone in his room. Five years later, around 2010, he gradually relaxed and started growing flowers and animals on his own and hanging out with other inmates. After insisting on living alone for 10 years, he moved in with other people, but after 5 month, because of Private Kim Dong-min's bad personality, people said they couldn't live together, so he went back to living alone. |

Shit fuck that's awful. South Korea has conscription and they need military force to keep North Korea in their cage, but surely there's some mental health screening.
