why head to Syria like a dumbass, while telling his family he was headed to Turkey? Ummm sounds like someone wanted to die. if he wanted to serve valiantly...why not serve under the british forces like a good royal lab dog? maybe he couldn't make the cut to be a regular brit soldier, so his dumbass decides...oh yea i'll go fight in secret for the kurds instead. well, he got his wish.
First thing to hit my mind was this very similar breakdown..

Personally, as a veteran, I have encountered many people who couldnt get into the military or law enforcement because of some physiological or psychological discrepancy.

If this is his way of proving himself, then as we say in the Navy, "Choose your rate, choose your fate". He got to choose that...

Im sure he had full intentions of returning home after he got his fill.. It appears his fill got the best of him... Im not hatin'... Just sayin'
