Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE/IRAN/LEBANON Conflict Discussion Thread VI (2024)

Vid6: Druze village leader. To make long story short: They dont accept the new defacto ISIS leadership in Damascus and want to be part of Israel. Most of their Druze brothers already living on Israeli soil.

Vid7: Its said another South Syrian Druze community asking to join Israel. In the past days were also meetings between Druze leaders and high ranking IDF officials as well as with Prime Minister Netanjahu.
Very smart of Suwayda District to try to convince Israel to annex their region. Israel would be that one entity that can break the cycle of tyrants, tribal warlords and Sharia Law extremists who are vying to rule their land.

I wonder if Daraa District (Sunni majority) would be open to the same proposal. Annexing both districts would provide Israel with an contiguous land area.

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE/IRAN/LEBANON Conflict Discussion Thread VI (2024)

Trudeau supports ICC ruling to arrest Netanyahu.

Following the ICC ruling, Trudeau confirmed that Canada would comply with the decision and arrest Netanyahu if he arrived on Canadian soil. “We stand up for international law, and we will abide by all the regulations and rulings of the international courts,” Trudeau said during a press conference last week. “This is just who we are as Canadians.”

"...who we are as Canadians." I feel your pain, Canucks.
OMG, was he really praying to Muhammad or just warming Obama's spot?

US shoots down two of its own navy pilots over Red Sea in ‘apparent friendly fire’ incident

Pilots recovered alive – one with minor injuries – after ejecting from fighter jet as US military says its guided missile cruiser ‘mistakenly’ fired on the F/A-18.

Two US navy pilots were shot down over the Red Sea on Sunday in an “apparent case of friendly fire”, the US military said, marking the most serious incident to threaten troops in more than a year of the country targeting Yemen’s Houthis.

Both pilots were rescued alive after ejecting from their stricken aircraft, with one suffering minor injuries. But the incident underlines just how dangerous the Red Sea corridor has become amid the ongoing attacks on shipping by the Iranian-backed Houthis despite US and European military coalitions patrolling the area.

The US military had conducted airstrikes targeting Yemen’s Houthi at the time, though the military’s Central Command (Centcom) did not elaborate on what their mission was.

The F/A-18 shot down had just flown off the deck of the USS Harry S Truman aircraft carrier, Centcom said. On 15 December Centcom acknowledged the Truman had entered the Middle East, but hadn’t specified that the carrier and its battle group was in the Red Sea.

“The guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg, which is part of the USS Harry S Truman Carrier Strike Group, mistakenly fired on and hit the F/A-18,” Centcom said in a statement. The incident was being investigated.

From the military’s description, the aircraft shot down was a two-seat F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet assigned to the “Red Rippers” of strike fighter quadron 11 out of Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia.

It wasn’t immediately clear how the Gettysburg could mistake an F/A-18 for an enemy aircraft or missile, particularly as ships in a battle group remain linked by both radar and radio communication.

However, Centcom said that warships and aircraft earlier shot down multiple Houthi drones and an anti-ship cruise missile launched by the rebels. Incoming hostile fire from the Houthis has given sailors just seconds to make decisions in the past.

Since the Truman’s arrival, the US has stepped up its airstrikes targeting the Houthis and their missile fire into the Red Sea and the surrounding area. However, the presence of an American warship group may spark renewed attacks from the rebels, like what the USS Dwight D Eisenhower saw earlier this year. That deployment marked what the navy described as its most intense combat since the second world war.

On Saturday night and early Sunday, US warplanes conducted airstrikes that shook Sana’a, the capital of Yemen, which the Houthis have held since 2014. Centcom described the strikes as targeting a “missile storage facility” and a “command-and-control facility”.

Houthi-controlled media reported strikes in both Sana’a and around the port city of Hodeida, without providing any casualty or damage information. In Sana’a, strikes appeared particularly targeted at a mountainside known to be home to military installations. The Houthis later acknowledged the aircraft being shot down in the Red Sea.

The Houthis have targeted about 100 merchant vessels with missiles and drones since the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip started in October 2023.

The Houthis have seized one vessel and sunk two in a campaign that has also killed four sailors. Other missiles and drones have either been intercepted by separate US- and European-led coalitions in the Red Sea or failed to reach their targets, which have also included western military vessels.

The rebels maintain that they target ships linked to Israel, the US or the UK to force an end to Israel’s campaign against Hamas in Gaza. However, many of the ships attacked have little or no connection to the conflict, including some bound for Iran.

The Houthis also have increasingly targeted Israel itself with drones and missiles, resulting in retaliatory Israeli airstrikes.

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE/IRAN/LEBANON Conflict Discussion Thread VI (2024)

On Saturday, an Israeli Navy Sa’ar 5 class missile corvette passed through the Suez Canal. The Sa’ar 5 was recently succeeded by the Sa’ar 6-class, manufactured for the Israeli Navy by Germany.

The video shows the ship flying both Israeli and Egyptian flags in accordance with regulations requiring that the host nation’s flag be flown next to that of the transiting vessel.

A small crowd of onlookers can be seen observing the scene, with two smaller Egyptian police boats escorting the vessel. IDF sailors can be seen standing on the deck.

While Egypt has maintained a peace treaty with Israel since 1979, it has been described as a “cold peace,” with the government in Cairo and on the Egyptian street often hostile toward Jerusalem (not to mention fostering Hamas supply tunnels into Gaza wide enough to drive a truck).

The initial outrage over the video prompted the Suez Canal Authority to issue a statement.

In response to questions raised on some social media platforms about the Suez Canal Authority allowing warships of different nationalities to cross the Maritime Channel, the Suez Canals Authority affirms its commitment to the implementation of international conventions that guarantee the freedom of navigation for ships passing the Channel, whether they are commercial or war vessels, without discrimination,” the Egyptian state-owned authority said.

The citizenship of the ship is in accordance with the articles of the Constantine Agreement, which constitute an essential guarantee to maintain the channel’s status as the most important maritime passage in the world,” the statement continued.

So Israel is guaranteed freedom of navigation without discrimination. Well let's just ignore that police escort then.

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE/IRAN/LEBANON Conflict Discussion Thread VI (2024)

Well, so much for separating the Muslim residents of Israel from the sins of Hamas.

Two-thirds of Palestinians want Hamas in new Gaza government, survey finds

Marwan Barghouti, a convicted terrorist murderer, received the most support of all possible candidates for Palestinian Authority leader.
JNS - Jewish News Syndicate 24.12.2024

(Dec. 24, 2024 / JNS) Close to two-thirds of Palestinians in Gaza, Judea and Samaria prefer for Hamas terrorists to be part of, or even lead, a Palestinian governing body that would control the Strip after the current war with Israel concludes, according to a new Arab opinion poll published over the weekend.

The Ramallah-based Arab World for Research and Development (AWRAD) polling firm surveyed 704 Palestinian adults between Nov. 27 and Dec. 2. (The margin of error is plus or minus 3.7 percentage points, AWRAD said.)

According to the poll, 47% of Palestinians say they would put their trust in a government of “national unity” that would include Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah faction, which currently governs swaths of Judea and Samaria, as well as Hamas, the terror group that ruled Gaza until it was destroyed by the Israel Defense Forces in recent months.

Meanwhile, 17% of the surveyed Palestinians told AWRAD they favor a return to the situation in which Gaza is ruled solely by Hamas terrorists.

In Judea and Samaria, respondents showed significantly more support for Hamas than for the Western-backed P.A., with 25% expressing support for the Islamist terrorist organization, compared to just 10% for the P.A.

Hamas led the bloody terror attacks in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, during which 1,200 people were murdered, thousands more were wounded and over 250 innocents were taken as hostages to the Strip.

Asked about possible P.A. presidential candidates if Ramallah would call its first vote in almost 19 years, Marwan Barghouti, a convicted terrorist murderer affiliated with Fatah serving multiple life sentences in Israel, received the most support of all possible candidates for P.A. chief.

In June, the Palestinians’ satisfaction with Hamas’s performance in the war against Israel reached its highest point since the Oct. 7 massacre, while support for the Palestinian Authority and Fatah plummeted.

When asked by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research to rate the performance of various actors during the war, Hamas took the lead with 75% satisfaction, up five percentage points since March.

The June 12 opinion poll recorded a slight drop in support for the Hamas-led massacre. Two-thirds declared Hamas was “correct” in launching the attack, down by four percentage points compared to three months prior.

Fifty-one percent said they believed that Hamas is “the most deserving” of leading the Palestinian people, up from 49% in March. Meanwhile, 16% of Palestinian Arabs believed Abbas’s Fatah was the most deserving.

Almost 60% of Palestinians said they saw the “return of Hamas” in Gaza as the preferred outcome for the conflict, followed by 25% that preferred a “new P.A. under an elected president, parliament and government.”

The Biden administration wants the P.A. to assume control of Gaza after the completion of Israel’s military operation against Hamas. Jerusalem vehemently rejects that due to Ramallah’s overt support for terrorism.

The U.S. State Department in December 2023 refused to rule out the possibility of Hamas terrorists retaining power or joining a Palestinian Authority-led governing body for the Gaza Strip, Judea and Samaria.

“Palestinians’ voices and aspirations must be at the center of post-crisis governance in Gaza, unified with the West Bank under the P.A.,” a U.S. government spokesperson told JNS, adding, “Ultimately, the future of Palestinian leadership is a question for the Palestinian people.”

Yeah? Wait a few more weeks and see if that bullshit from U.S. government spokespeople changes.

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE/IRAN/LEBANON Conflict Discussion Thread VI (2024)

we need a non biased new source, www.athiestnews.com

Anyways I see Palestinian protests still, but tone changed a bit. They are out during thanks giving, out during Christmas Parade (they marches the parade route before the parade). Singing American songs with lyrics changed to promote a much more peaceful message. No more "death to America." Domestic terrorist chants.

Still, I wanted to blast the clip of Mr Fafo going Alah Akbar with rockets flying in the background.... where's the shit talking now???

Everything played out logically to its logical conflclusion.

"...and the end of the occupation and a happy new year!"

They would need a police escort if they tried that in most of my state.
