My father in law worked in Israel for 5 years or so, he said he saw one farm full of pigs and what was interesting, pigs were not allowed to touch “Holly ground” so Jews built wooden floors for them or something like that. And who are those pigs for? Well, there are a lot of foreigners working, including people from former USSR for whom pig is a good animal to eat.

Edit.. actually, he didn’t know who owned the farm, so maybe it was Russians or Ukrainians, but def one of rules to have it was that pigs didn’t touch the holy land

Very interesting! I recall a story from Pakistan regarding local suppliers supplying NATO in Afghanistan with pork but no one wanted to admit whether the pigs are raised or wild caught. Such a big controversy in a Muslim country so you never know.
