2-4. PROPAGANDA WARNING - Someone asked me about this yesterday and I didn't know what he was referring to. Now I know. LOL. I don't know if this is some kind of protest maneuver or if they're legitimately trying to pass these off as real babies. From an Israeli source:
"At the Shahada Al-Aqsa hospital in the center of the Gaza Strip, Palestinians play with dolls and tell the media that it is a baby who was killed in an IDF attack."

Surprisingly, I think I can provide some information about these "fake babies"

Several years ago, I purchased some "Babies" as movie props, from a shop that sold surplus stuff. The babies were EXTREMELY life-like. The person there told me that the babies were made as "training aids" for teenage girls and boys. They were assigned a "baby" for a week or so. These babies were VERY realistic. Their eyes opened and closed, they had timers inside them that made them cry on a pre-determined time schedule, to prompt feedings and diaper changes, and they even had sensors installed internally to reveal if they had been abused. (impact, shaking, etc) The idea was to expose girls to what the responsibilities were of caring for a young baby, to give the girls a taste of what motherhood was like, and to get a "report" from the babies whether they had been fed, bathed, cuddled, changed, etc. to the point where their care was sufficient to have actually kept a baby alive during the training period. Teachers rated the "simulator baby's" as VERY effective at teaching teen-agers (boys as well as girls) about the care that babies need. They had to be taken care of 24 hours a day. Even in the middle of the night.
I suspect that the "fake babies" you are seeing, are identical ones, provided by the UN health care agencies, for training boys and girls in Gaza, but used as "propaganda stooges" by HAMAS during the IDF strikes.
I still have a couple of these "training babies" in my prop kit. I actually included them on a "prop list" that I made for a local film production company.

(The props ranged from weapons, to clothing, to these babies, to human body parts that looked real, and even to such things as space weapons and similar things.) (I am in a local modeling club, and one of the lady members is a specialist at duplicating things. She built an EXACT replica of the "DISKY" computer used in the Apollo spacecraft, and also built an "Infernal Device" which simulates a small atomic bomb. (Yeah, it even has a count-down timer on it, and it can be stopped at a certain point, just like a James Bond weapon (it can be stopped at "007" if you want!) and just for fun, she randomized the wiring on it, so it changes functions, and if you cut the wrong wire while you are "deactivating" it, it will detonate. That is, you can cut the blue wire once and it will shut down, but if you cut the blue wire the NEXT time, it will go off, so it can randomly kill you if you screw up. It looks as good as anything you have ever seen on a movie set. She has also duplicated a moon-lander window and frame off the LEM that landed on the moon, various full and scale sized rocket thrusters, (From Gemini, Apollo, and the Space Shuttle!) and her latest project was a complete duplicate of the Plutonium core and carrying case that was used in the 2nd Atomic Bomb that was dropped at Nagasaki. They built a special carrying case for this core about 12" x 12" X 8" that has shock mounts on all sides, the core, which is about 4" in diameter, and is polished 4" diameter ball bearing to simulate the perfectly polished plutonium core they actually used. There was no radiation protection on this core, because she said it was radioactively stable and the emissions from it were stopped by something as thin as a single sheet of typing paper. What they had to protect the core from was any physical damage, because that could retard or eliminate the explosion when it was used as the core of a bomb. The real core was ground to something like 3 millionths of an inch in sphericity, and if there was even the tiniest damage to the surface of the core, it could make the detonation fail due to the forces not being properly focused on the core of the bomb. She duplicated this from a SINGLE photograph that was taken when they were assembling the bomb, that she got from the U.S. archives. She even got the grain of the wooden case perfectly. I put several of her "devices" in the prop catalog. She won't sell them, but she will loan them out for filming purposes.

Anyway, off on a tangent again. What can I say?

But I think the "fake babies" probably came from a UNRWA training program. (I am especially prone to believe this after learning that the hostages were confined and controlled by UNRWA personnel, doctors, nurses, and other UNRWA people, who were apparently working for or with HAMAS.)
