To be honest it's because Israel is their eyed and ears in the Arab world. It's also an easy win for Christian voters for some reason.

Israel acts as a debuffer zone for western politics so America wants to appease them.

What started as a sympathetic support turned into a way to curb Soviet influence and now acts as a "stabilizer" for extremist Islam beliefs.

This unequivocal support is being seriously stretched now though

The entire wave of contemporary Middle Eastern terrorism consists of veterans from Afghanistan or individuals trained by them, many of whom often met in the same camps. Trained and armed by the USA as a "lesser evil" against the Soviets they were fighting. Starting from Bin Laden, Al-Zarqawi, al-Baghdadi to the upheavals in Libya, Tunisia, Jordan, Egypt, Syria - these are all people who, after the fall of the Soviet Union and the expulsion of the red scum, spread across the Middle East like worms in the form of ISIS and other crap. Now, ironically, US is building a lesser evil against Muslim radicals in the form of Israel turning into a fascist state. Hopefully, it won't end the same way...
