Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE Conflict Discussion Thread III (2023)
I wonder what the intensity will be from Israel once the war is back on? Does Israel bomb even harder than at the beginning to let HAMAS know that if there is ever another cease fire, that it would be a mistake to let it lapse again? Or does Israel go more targeted and reserved and give into the international pressure. I guess time will tell... |

I don't know but I think we're going to find out here in the next several hours.

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE Conflict Discussion Thread III (2023)
Netanyahu bolstered and sustained Hamas for years to undermine the Palestinian Authority and keep the Palestinians divided, also to legitimize the lack of attempts at real peace. He set folks up that wouldn't come to the table so he could pout and say "see they aren't coming to the table." The IDF knew of Hamas' plans on Oct.7 but assumed that they were too stupid and lacked the resources- this isn't new. The British were convinced that the Japanese were too stupid to fly planes. The Nazis thought the Russians were too stupid to build tanks. As far as US involvement, it's US money, US weapons, and the hostage deal was a Biden deal. Of course America is deeply involved. As far as UN boxes/offices having Hamas weapons stashes, Hamas has been running Gaza with an iron grip. They will put their weapons wherever they want. This isn't collusion, it's just trying to help folks in a war zone. Hamas gonna Hamas. It's a stretch at best to accuse the only people trying to save lives in Gaza of affiliation with authoritarians who run everything anyway. The explanations of the broken truce on both sides are silly and not worth any toll in civilian life. The Israeli government is not listening to the families and prioritizing saving hostages, and may seriously have already blown some of them up. The wanton destruction comes across as revenge and collective punishment, terrorism vs. terrorism, military grade US weapons in the hands of extremist illegal settlers looking for payback. Meanwhile the Gazans suffer while Hamas guys cool by the pool in Qatar, just like Arafat's corrupt buddies back in the day. Nobody is really fighting on behalf of Israel's well-being or Palestinian well-being. History will not be kind to these "leaders." |

I'm glad Israel has returned to the task of ridding their country of the enemy, after being sidetracked with the hostage BS. I hope Israel gathered good G2 during the truce for a fruitful next phase. |

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE Conflict Discussion Thread III (2023)
I just can't compare Palestinians and Hamas to the Imperial Japanese Army (who were first-rate soldiers fighting with second rate hardware) or the Russians in WWII. I think the Palestinians/Hamas/arabs are stupid, and would have never been able to pull off October 7th if Israel hadn't fucked up so badly with giving power to Netanyahu and the right wing coalition he formed which is ultimately responsible for the current situation by building up Hamas into the genuinely threatening entity it became and also resulting in an Israel divided (America and the West was no better, of course, with how they built up Iraq before the Gulf War and created that situation). It will take a while but Hamas will eventually be destroyed or pounded into something much more ineffectual now that Israel, once a country greatly divided (and what gave Hamas the balls to do what they did) but now united again because of the events of October 7, is currently totally focused on Hamas. |

"Yesterday, the (field) hospital established by the United Arab Emirates was opened in the municipal stadium in Rafah. It will operate under the supervision of the Emirati Red Crescent."
