You’re the one taking a simplistic view of the situation.

That land went back and forth between the Jews and Arabs for millennia. It’s impossible to say who it belongs to now, on a purely historical basis, but there are some things that we can use to rationalize boundaries today.

The civilized world made a mess when they divided it up in 1948, but it is what it is. Had Israel just started gobbling up additional territory after that division, then they would be in the wrong, but that’s not what happened.

Literally within hours of Israel being staked on the world stage, they were attacked by Iraq, Jordan and Egypt, trying to wipe Israel off the map.

Israel mopped the floor with all three armies, and should have, according to the ancient tradition of land rights, been allowed to keep all the land they held and managed to take from their would-be conquerors. Israel, on the other hand, being an actual civilized nation decided to give much of it back and pursue peace.

Ever since, Israel has been under constant attack from the Palestinians and have had no choice but to continue to box them in. Israel occupying so-called Palestinian territories is nothing more than Israel setting up a defensible posture against a constant aggressor.

At this point, there should be NO Palestinian territory left. You can only attack your neighbor and be swatted down so many times before you lose your right to the territory you called your own.

If the UN wants to take an opinion on the sovereignty of Palestinian territory, then THEY need to go occupy Gaza and the West Bank and ensure that they quit attacking their neighbor.

If the UN isn’t willing or able to do that, then they need to STFU and let Israel do what it needs to do to ensure its own survival.
