Re: 3/7 Marines in Sangin 2010

some info as not everyone knows about Sangin:
The Battle of Sangin (2010) was a several month clearing operation during the War in Afghanistan (2001–2021) by units of the United States Marine Corps, primarily 3rd Battalion 7th Marines from May 2010 till October 2010 in the Sangin District of Helmand Province, Afghanistan.3rd Battalion 7th Marines took over from the British forces and pushed in Taliban strongholds, establishing outposts and bases that would later be used by 3rd Battalion 5th Marines. suffered heavy casualties as well as 3rd Battalion 5th Marines which lost 25 Marines were killed and 200 were wounded during the operation.

Re: 3/7 Marines in Sangin 2010

We always like to imagine what it’d be like if aliens invaded, and how we’d fight the crazy technology.

But then you can look at the fighting against the Taliban, and how the US are effectively the aliens with advanced technology. I mean, seriously, compared to their RPGs, AKs and caves, they were getting mowed down by apaches and gunships like the AC130 in the dead of night without knowing what hit them. Then you throw in JDAMs, and A10 runs, and realize you have to give them SOME credit for even trying to face such an overwhelming difference in power.

It truly a microcosm of what an alien attack would be like on humanity.
