Re: ISIS Post-combat Footage
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to this so-called mission to retake Mosul. They are broadcasting the entire operation objectives and strategy months before. These are primarly new recruits and supposed to be mixed sectarian, but green and need to be trained. Then they're going to frog march them into Mosul which not only has ISIS, but many of Saddam's former military officers that are providing strategic support to ISIS. These guys are professionals and nothing like the current, corrupt, Shia armed forces. So what's going to happen when this newly trained force that probably is going to be 7 times the current ISIS occupation fighters finally are confronted? There's supposed to be no US military involved in the actual assult and the Iraqi's are supposed to now be properly trained after several months by US military. How will the US military deal with the entire bunch turn around like a bunch of pussies and run like the previous military in Mosul? Last time the excuse was they were poorly trained and had no discipline. So when this "professionally" trained new force hauls ass, what's going to be said? Do we just write the country off and say the fuck with this? If they won't fight their own battles and the Shia central gov't still is going to treat the Sunnis in the North like shit and it's probably going to turn into a clusterfuck no matter what happens. Probably not. Instead they're probably going to commit US ground forces. ISIS and affiliated groups are popping up like mushrooms all over the area. Are we going to police the entire G-d damned N. Africa and mid east to save them from themselves? |

Re: ISIS Post-combat Footage
Sadly while I completely agree with you, but air campaigns alone will accomplish very little unless the people of Iraq and Syria put aside their biblical differences and work together. Just as well, neighboring Arab countries need to cooperate at the highest levels to stop this madness. Strangely I find myself thinking on occasion "My god what would happen if the entire Islamic population of the world united against the rest, would they just topple everyone like damn the ottomans"? Thankfully they are all pretty good about killing each other so for now we are safe :D |
