that is unfortunately very true. As a proud American (albeit one with three passports) living abroad, I am horrified by the consequences of American intervention abroad with its objective of oil prospecting couched in the lofty goal of spreading democracy.

Leave the tyrants and the despots of the middle east (of the world, even) in place. They help keep the geostrategic balance. Despots like Hussein and Assad have visited much horror upon some of their people, which we must recognize, denounce and then offer humanitarian help for. Please take two fucking seconds, and go read about the history of Algeria before you attempt to blame this beheading on the U.S. in particularly Iraq and Afghanistan.
