Summary:
An ethnic clash erupted on 3 May 2023 in India's north-eastern state of Manipur between the Meitei people, a majority that lives in the Imphal Valley, and the tribal community from the surrounding hills, including the Kuki and Zo peoples. More than 70 people died in the violence, and hundreds were left wounded.

The dispute has to do with a long-standing demand by the Meitei people for a Scheduled Tribe status under the Indian Constitution, which would give them privileges comparable to the tribal communities. In April, a Manipur High Court verdict directed the state government to make a decision on the issue preferably within four weeks. The tribal communities protested the Meitei demand. The All Tribal Student Union of Manipur (ATSUM) conducted a solidarity march in all hill districts on 3 May. By the end of march, clashes broke out between the Meitei and Kuki populations in and around the Churachandpur district bordering the Imphal Valley.

The Indian Army flew in close to 10,000 troops and paramilitary forces to restore law and order. Internet services in the state were suspended for a period of five days and Section 144 of the Indian Penal Code was invoked. The Indian troops were given "shoot on sight" orders to enforce the curfew in "extreme cases".

Posted 29 May: "Christians of the Kuki people continue to flee from the Hindus and the security forces supporting them into the mountains of Manipur province. Also, Christian militias retaliated against pagan villages in the foothills, killing 12 people and injuring dozens more.

In response, the Indian army carried out attacks on Christian communities, citing the presence of militants in them, during these attacks, about 30 people were killed, and the security forces also published photographs of arrested militias during other operations.

It is worth noting that now the Indian government is trying to present the Christians of Manipur as the perpetrators of the entire conflict, referring to the fact that they started armed resistance (despite the fact that the army openly acts on the side of local pagans)."

World's biggest democracy, approved gay marriage, but parts of its populace still literally live in the 1300s. Indians resent the Chinese because in 1980 the countries were pretty much at the same place but China is now 6x more developed and projections show India has no realistic means of ever catching up.

This is mostly true.

Indians also are not as genuinely clever or smart as the Chinese.

India is an amalgamation of dumb poor farm idiots and only the high caste tribes have high socioeconomic mobility and qualify as tier 1 skilled labor.

The rest are all low class peasants and serfs with little intelligence.

I'm from manipur... This war is between manipuri(dominant) people and kuki tribe (kuki people are a tribe that lives in manipur...

Bangladesh should be abolished and join india/tamil nadu under one nation. India goverment will has a broad route to visit the poor states like manipur, mizoram nagaland thus upgrade their economic condition
