Footnote: U-331 was sunk a year later by torpedo-bombers from HMS Formidable while attempting to surrender. Evidently the British didn't get the memo.

It was all Winston Churchils fault. The shup should never have been deployed.

Yeah, the U-boats usually hit freight liners and troop carriers, sometimes risking to fight back against destroyers and battlecruisers.

They wouldn't have known at the time that they were bombing the sub which sank the Barham - that would only come out later when access to the German war records was obtained.

Traffic keeps a forum alive and profitable. I don't usually bump old threads but I'm not a fan of that guideline because I'd never see videos from 10 years ago unless they get bumped. |
