In a nutshell? Azeris are mostly Shia Muslims, supported by Turkey. Armenians are mostly Christian, supported here by Russia. Could maybe stop there except they are also fighting over territory.

Re: Frontline Footage of Ngorno Karabakh Conflict
Long story short: Armenia: in existence for roughly 5000 years, falls under Ottoman rule in 16th century, then Persian, then Ottoman, Persian, and Ottoman rule again. The Russian Empire takes over the eastern part of Armenia in 1828. WWI begins, Ottomans start exterminating Armenians who live in the west part of Armenia. WWI ends, the Russian Empire is dissolved, Azerbaijan emerges at the east border of Armenia, declares its independence. Armenia declares its independence. Both countries are absorbed by the Soviet union (1920). Both countries declare their independence (again) in 1991 with the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Shortly after that, an Armenian majority declares independence of Artsakh. A war begins over the "Republic of Artsakh" in 1991, which is internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan. All territories close to the borders were heavily contested after WWI and they ended up with a predominantly Armenian territory trapped in Azerbaijan (Artsakh) and an Azeri exclave west of Armenia (Nakhchivan). So Armenia is bitter about losing territories to Azerbaijan, and vice-versa. Turkey and Russia feed the flames by regularly equipping both countries with shiny guns. |

Re: Frontline Footage of Ngorno Karabakh Conflict
They sided with russia during ww1 and took up arms against the ottomans, seizing villages and wiping out turks and kurds that live there, once ottomans came back from the war, they fought back and defeated the uprising and deported alot of them to lebanon/iran etc. alot of innocents did die, just remember archives in turkey regarding the so called “armenian genocide” are open, armenia archives are closed and they wont open then to the UN or public.. why?? What are they hiding? Do your own research guys, armenians like to spread bullshit and claim they’re the innocents while being the aggressors in the conflict. azerbaijan agreed to the first ceasefire and they were even ready for a peaceful solution, Armenia wants none of that.

Turkey or Azerbaijan don’t want to genocide armenians as they claim again, thats all bullshit. Armenia attacked outside the conflict zone into Azerbaijans territory first to legitimise the war and receive international backing. Without any support from russia or any country, armenia is an easy target. |

Re: Frontline Footage of Ngorno Karabakh Conflict
Frankly, I don't give a rat's ass about the so-called "turkish archives" of any genocide. Freedom of speech does not exist in Turkey. Any "archives" about anything are biased and heavily censored. I just gathered and compiled some info. I found that, while half of historic Armenia was under Russian rule (I think it would be accurate to say they were forced to side with Russia), the Ottoman-ruled part was busy with deportations, famine and lots of bloodshed. Most sources refer to the extermination of Armenians around that time. I also don't give a rat's ass who's the aggressor around the Karabakh region, their borders and ethnic identities are so fucked up that even the UN cannot find a viable solution. |

Re: Frontline Footage of Ngorno Karabakh Conflict
Fair enough, they did get killed, but it was us or them, you are right about there being no freedom of speech in turkey, I hate the fact that they are turning more and more towards authoritarian dictatorship, Mustafa kemal Ataturks dream of a secular turkish nation is slowly fading... Turkey should not be held responsible for The Armenian genocide though, it was done by the ottomans, not by the republic of Turkey, Ataturk had nothing to do with the Armenian genocide.. The sultans and governments in The ottoman empire should be held responsible. Also what did you expect of the ottomans? They were being attacked from all sides, before the armenian genocide turks kurds and armenians, assyrians lived together in the east of turkey, the west you had a large greek population too before the deportations because of the greek nationalism and uprising. In the end the strongest win. If we go far enough, the crusaders did huge massacres Europe was responsible for the genocide of africans( Belgium ) Usa is responsible for the genocide of Native Americans. Australia massacred and killed alot of the Aboriginals. But we shouldnt condemn the new generation of people for what their ancestors did. |
